Glad you all approve! Philip, sorry you're finding the image takes a while to load. It's actually pretty reasonable size, only 264k, and I could reduce this dramatically but the quality will suffer too. But, once you refresh your screen and load the image properly, it should stay in your browser's cache.

It was Anita wot suggested Mr Pink-Whistle as a possible character for the banner, although it was me who decided he should "end" the banner in this way. Just think... it might easily have been Noddy up there!

Keith, it's loading perfectly now. Looking great too. :D

And yes, it wouldn't look so nice if Noddy was there in place of Pink-Whistle - I have no interest in both the characters but it would be nice if Noddy was not at the helm of all things Blyton every day... (Sorry to all fans!)

I'm still scrolling across but Mr Pink-Whistle does look good on there. It actually looks like he has just played one of his famous tricks on poor old Goon who is left looking bewildered at the other end.

Sorry you're still having to scroll, Lucky Star. Can you read the posts without having to scroll (eg. by making sure it's only the avatars etc that are "off-screen") or do you have to keep scrolling from side to side even to read what people have written?

Its fine Anita. I can read the posts and see most of the avatars as well. Its really just about 10% of the screen I have to scroll for. If I look at the bamnner at the top I can see from Mr Pink Whistle over to Philip climbing onto the ladder on The Island of Adventure. I really just need to invest in a newer screen but, alas, the credit crunch has struck me and the money is usually earmarked for books rather than technology.

I like the way he is walking off the banner, about to fall off the page. :D

Sounds irksome, but then it could be worse!

Books are certainly more reliable and longer-lasting! :)

Funny - a woman I once knew told me the same...that to a chap who himself read and collected books! But then the same individual [who viewed asthma sufferers as malingerers] is said to have told a mutual acquaintance that the real reason I wouldn't have a cat inside the home was that I just couldn't stand the competition. Ah me , of such encounters is the fabric of life woven.....

I noticed that the Interactive Island picture is now different, not the old one, but certainly it is an improvement. Who changed it - Keith? Is it a 'Five' picture? Or is it something different?

These changes are making the site (AND the forums!) much better, although they were great already before! :D

After I had scanned the Famous Five cards I told Keith that I thought the softer colours would look much better for that button as we had always felt that the blue was a bit too bright and it stuck out like a sore thumb in the forums. Keith and Anita both agreed and Keith very kindly changed it. I am pleased that someone has noticed it!

Yes: I had noticed the different Famous Five picture, and recognised it as being from the card game: I really love the more muted colours on that picture compared to the 'Island' cover pic: much more 'classy' 8)

It is indeed a nice picture, and all the better for being one that I haven't seen before. I must go and look at the card game pics in the Cave at the weekend. Too busy this week to relax and enjoy them.

I'm having this pale grey forum screen again, I closed down and opened up and still it was there. I've cleared browsing history and C Drive, so at the moment, fingers crossed I've got the usual screen back, but I only have half of the character strip along the top, that is to say the top half, Mr Pink Whistle ends at this waist.

I always have a pang of worry when you talk about clearing your C drive!! Gosh, I hope not. But I know what you mean. :D

Sorry you're having grey screen issues. I have no idea what causes it... yet.
