Re: Monthly Quiz
You had me worried there for a minute, I thought I'd lost my coveted top spot! I'm still around so I'll be giving this month's quiz a go later today, can't see me beating 29 though.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Re: Monthly Quiz
Try for 23 in well under one minute. That should get you to the top?

Maybe the T stands for Terence...Rob Houghton wrote:Regardless of whether this is 'above board' or not - I personally feel TF Carthick is having more than one go, using a different name and on a different device, in order to read the questions without being spotted by admin!
I got 18 this month, which is lower than last time but still pretty respectable for me, as there are still so many books I haven't read and I have to guess a lot of answers. I still managed to come one place higher (with a better time, not a better score) than 0.666 Number of the Millibeast.
As for the zero, seeing who it is, I can only guess either something went wrong or someone else has deliberately used the name "Gran/Daisy" in order to sabotage one of our greatest honest players...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Monthly Quiz
Your good friend TF has actually had a go every month, but apart from this month and January you probably haven't noticed him as he hasn't featured in the top 30 at all. He normally takes much longer and scores rather less. Apart from the two months when he is in the top spot, 22 is his highest score. He found May a bit of a struggle as he only scored 15 in 4 minutes and ended up 80th!Rob Houghton wrote:Interesting! I personally found this quiz quite difficult - only got 23 out of 30...so I'm surprised that someone can have a first attempt and get 29 right in only 1:38. Only 15 this time! A lot of more obscure stuff I think, plus I'm rubbish with the Secret Seven.

hmmm! That makes it all the more unlikely TF would get 29 right in under 2 minutes!!Tony Summerfield wrote:Your good friend TF has actually had a go every month, but apart from this month and January you probably haven't noticed him as he hasn't featured in the top 30 at all. Re: Monthly Quiz
I don't think either TF or Gran/Daisy would intentionally want to nobble each other - I'm sure it must be an oversight of some description.

Now I'm even more confused! I feel like I'm supposed to know who TF is...
As far as I know Daisy never scores very low scores in over 4 minutes though!

Could be an 'off day'...
But,if they did want to nibble/nobble each other I suppose it's not really my concern.

Re: Monthly Quiz
I haven't tried the quiz yet.... usually wait a few days, but this is the second time my name has been used to gain a very low score... I don't know how they avoid getting at least some right!

Re: Monthly Quiz
At least whatever you score Daisy, you are bound to blow the competition/namesake out of the water!
One of the few advantages of attempting the quiz each month with a totally different name is you don't usually run the risk of being misappropriated!
But, I would find it slightly irksome if I regularly used the same name and someone else inadvertently nobbled it.

Re: Monthly Quiz
It was a bit fiendish, I agree John.Still 17 is an honest, respectable genuine score.
All this talk of nibbling and nobbling is making me feel like a Mcvities Hobnob - but the nearest we have in the cupboard is a pack of Sainsbury's Ginger Snaps...

Re: Monthly Quiz
I sound like OJ Simpson here, but if I was going to cheat,I would personally aim for a score of around 24/25. Respectable, but doesn't attract too much attention/scrutiny.
TF could be a genuine brainbox who is kicking himself that he got one wrong...
We do have members here who often achieve 28/29 points regularly quite honestly.
I'm usually happy with a score from 17-23. Anything less makes me feel like I don't know enough and anything more I would honestly have to put down to luck rather than retained knowledge!
