Of course, Tony!
LOS CINCO Y EL TESORO DE LA ISLA / FIVE ON A TREASURE ISLAND
Date: 1964
Publisher: Editorial Juventud.
Illustrator: Jose Correas
Translated by: Juan Rios de la Rosa.

By the way in the picture, George hasn´t blue eyes, an error from Mr. Correas. :(

I have put your covers in for the first three books, Oscar, and I like the look of them so I will add some more. I will keep putting the date as 1964, but you must tell me if there is a change of illustrator, publisher or date.

They are some of the nicest famous Five covers, i think, outside of the Eileen Soper editions, of course. :D i love the colours and the children are 'modern' (to the times the books were published) but old fashioned enough to be 'ageless'. 8)

Yes they are definitely very nice covers. On the cover of Five go off to Camp George actually looks very nice in a skirt. I dont imagine the real George would have been quite so smiley while being forced to wear one though.

Seeing that the pictures of the covers are broken links, I will repost them, using the ones from the Cave of Books when available and finding the others.

They are the work of José Correas, and they are a classic part of the childhood of many children in Spain, including mine. (Not any more, though. The Famous Five books are in print but with different covers).

Superb db105 - thank you!

May I ask if there are internal illustrations and who does them?
Sorry if that's already been mentioned.

(Edited as I am an idiot!)

Well, Oscar was the one who originally posted these. I'm just reposting them.

There are internal illustrations, yes, by the same author, I think...

Many thanks db105 - not for the first time I got my wires crossed!

Many thanks too for all those wonderful internals - they certainly give Betty Maxey a run for her money.
I really like them.

Regards

Pete

Yes, I also rather like José Correas' work. And for me those older books will always be "my" version. The modern covers by Marina Vidal Martínez (I have posted all of them above) do have the advantage that they are more closely related to the contents of the book.
