Well, many thanks to you yet again Sixret -
I managed to buy these eleven books for £8 the postage was a fair £5.99

That means I just need the first Secret Seven book (with dustjacket) to complete my hardback Secret Seven collection now.

The first book in the series:

Trouble is, after spending £8 on eleven books, I will be looking for a reasonably priced copy now!!!

Thanks again Sixret - I have really enjoyed reading the Secret Seven's in their original editions lately and now my re-read can continue unabated!

Best wishes

Pete

Wow that is an excellent bargain buy! 8) They look to be in marvellous condition too, no idea why but Secre Seven dustjackets seem to be generally in better condition than Famous Five ones (at least in my experience)

Yes, I agree IceMaiden.

I have left collecting all the original Secret Seven's rather late in my collecting career, but this batch are almost at the bargain prices long ago enjoyed by Mr. Tony Summerfield when he first started collecting his Blytons!!!

Thanks Sixret - although it will mean I now have some duplicates, some of mine have facsimile wrappers and are a bit worn out! :D

Cheers!

The books arrived today - as mentioned I got eleven with wrappers for £8 plus postage - a great deal!

They look much better in the flesh than in the pictures - they do not look very well thumbed/read.
Inside many of the books is a little sticker from the original seller from the early 1960's.
One 1962 book is a first edition.

The original seller was Marsh's Stationers Brighton Road, Coulsdon CR5 2XU.
I wondered if it is still there today after all these years....

Thanks Julie - I wish collecting my Betty Maxey's was as easy.

A lovely set Pete and looking at them has given me a couple of puzzles! Firstly, I wonder when Enid started putting the "=" below her signature as it's not present on all the spines? And secondly, it could just be the flash off the image making it hard to see, but 'Fun for the Secret Seven' doesn't seem to have her name on it? My copy has it on the clouds just above the horse's head but yours doesn't look like it has? As I said it might be the lighting making it not show well  .

Yes, mine has Enid's name right in the middle at the top, above the horse's head, too. Mind you, mine is a fifth impression (1972) - maybe some earlier editions were different?
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

It's certainly there on the first edition cover as shown in the Cave:

Image

I can see the flash on the cover in the photo Pete has posted, but it doesn't look like it covers the whole area of the title... aha, I just thought to look at the original eBay link and there's another shot of the same book: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/DkAAAOSw ... -l1600.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; So it definitely doesn't have Enid's signature!

Hmmm, what does this mean — has Pete found a rare aberration? I can't imagine why the author's name would be present on the dust jacket in some printings and not others.

Well spotted guys!
The signature is indeed missing on my 1967 edition.
There's one on ebay from 1967 too - that also does not have the signature.
