No - its a complete story - though only about four chapters. Everything in The Omnibus was 'new' - although they had all appeared in Sunny Stories between 1951 and 1952.
Here's a link to the cave, showing illustrations etc. Warning, there are reviews in the link that may contain spoilers!
Which are the additional stories not found in the regular novels. Here's the naughtiest girl came as a novelette. What about adventurous four and Gallianos circus

Oh that's a pity . It would have been so much cheaper and easier to buy a copy of the Omnibus than a 1st edition of The Wishing Chair to get those missing chapters!

The missing chapters have been published more recently, though, haven't they, as More Wishing-Chair Stories — if I recall rightly from a previous discussion?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
The Cave doesn't show what stories / chapters are included in More Wishing Chair Stories — if someone has a copy, maybe they could let Tony know the contents?

Now my head's spinning a bit. But my copy of The Folk of the Faraway Tree arrived today!

So's mine! I'm really confused now, I was under the impression that all the missing chapters were in the 1st edition and only that one, that's why it's so expensive. But that thread says they're in the Dean's books which can be found by the bucketload and are only a couple of pounds? I'm lost .
Glad you've got your book safely Courtenay .

The extra chapters don't appear in the individual Dean volume of Adventures of the Wishing-Chair. However, they are included in The Wishing-Chair Collection (3-in-1 volume which was first published by Dean but is now published by Egmont). Alternatively, the extra chapters can also be found in More Wishing-Chair Stories as others have said.
Glad your book arrived okay, Courtenay.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.
"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.
I know we discussed this somewhere, but not in the linked thread - that as Tony said, 'all' editions after the first edition had only 31 chapters...until we come to the later Newnes editions in the 1960's, which had another four chapters chopped out - like the Dean books did.
So there were 36 chapters in the first edition, 31 chapters in subsequent editions, but by 1963 Newnes editions had only 27 chapters.
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'
True. It would be nice to have the chapters in their proper place rather than meeting them out of context as part of a cobbled-together third volume, but the only book that has them in situ is the first edition of Adventures of the Wishing-Chair.

Which is why I held out for an affordable first edition!

I've not seen an easily affordable first edition so far, but I have come across second or third editions that are reasonable. Missing out on four chapters although annoying is a lot less disruptive than missing nearly ten. My edition is 1964 and has only the 27 chapters. I wonder why someone decided to cut out almost a third of the story, it doesn't make sense and it's a wonder the book still does after doing so.
