Thanks sixret - that's a great book for a tenner!

I prefer the earlier cover with the red and blue toned illustration, so that's what I'd like to get if I can ever find it in reasonable condition, but that's a very good one for a very good price, thanks, Sixret.

Here's the one I'm thinking of — love those Fair Isle jumpers! :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Yes - have to admit, I much prefer the earlier covers, as I said before. they seem much more atmospheric! I also love the jumpers! :D I'd never seen it written as 'fair isle' before, but I see that is quite correct! I'd only ever seen it as 'fairisle'.

Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes

Welcome, Pete. :D

The yellow dj is a Tower House edition. Hardcover with dj. :D

The one that you pasted is the first edition pictorial card/board cover with no dj, Courtenay. :D

It’s a scarce book.

Yes, I remember Tony telling us about that in another thread. I'd probably prefer the second edition, which had a dust jacket with the same cover illustration. But we'll see. It's not really high on my priority list, just "if it ever comes along in reasonable condition at a justifiable price..." :D

My mum is an avid knitter, so I know a fair bit of the terminology (and I looked it up before I posted, just to be absolutely sure).

Thank you, Courtenay. I had not known that there is a dj version of it until now. I know that there is a later edition with 2 net(price). The first edition is 1/6 net(price). :D

As I said in another thread, I love the printed board version - which I have - though mine is the second edition which cost 2 shillings. :-D

I do have a DW version of Cliff Castle with original red/blue/pink illustration on the DW - but what I dislike is that the DW's tend to fade, whilst my printed board cover is still crystal clear and unfaded. :D

Ah well, there's an argument in favour of the printed boards. :D I guess in the end it boils down to what I can get (and afford)!

Of course, I might just have got lucky! ;-) If I see one very cheap and in good condition, I'll let you know!
