£185. Can make your best offer. £150? £30 for a book, is it a good price especially for Secret Island with dj? I’m not sure.

They look in pretty poor condition to me. I wouldn't pay anything like that amount.

Hmmm...I wouldn't say they were in 'poor' condition - maybe 'standard' condition for such books. Its quite rare to see The Secret Island in a dust wrapper (I'd say about 1 book in 10 has a wrapper) and fairly difficult to find Spiggy Holes' in a wrapper, too. Most books even without a wrapper would be on sale for maybe £15 - £30 each depending on edition (first editions even more obviously) and books in this series with a wrapper will usually be between £45 - £100 or more...so I'd say the price for all five books was pretty fair.

I'd say they were in fairly poor condition too — not unacceptable, but I wouldn't jump up and buy them even if I wanted to collect this series, which I don't at present. At the current price they're £37 per book, which is a lot. I'd rather hold out longer and buy each one individually in better condition, even if they cost more each and were harder to find.

Well, someone bought them anyway. They really were a good price, to be honest. At least two of these books are very rare with a dust wrapper in any condition!

True!

But I still think these five books are very hard to find in dust wrappers. I still haven't found a reasonable priced copy of The Secret Island in a DW.

Though they're probably rare by intent as we already stated ;-) http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/foru ... th#p320741

Oh yes, I'd forgotten the hens' teeth discussion!  (In Australia we also say something is "rare as rocking horse manure", except we'd more likely use a ruder word than "manure". )

Meanwhile, this looks like a decent deal for The Secret Mountain in a reasonable dust jacket: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Secret-M ... 2617691877" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I would buy it myself if it wasn't for the fact that I haven't yet read the book and don't know if it will be one I like enough to want to buy a "collector's" copy!

That's not a "bargain copy", Pete.  I simply went looking just to see for myself what was available on eBay and I stumbled across one of the reportedly rarer ones that I thought others here might like to know about too.
