7 Adventure hardbacks

Post by IceMaiden »

No wrappers but a great price for seven books!

I don't think the seller is going to profit much on their postage costs though :P

These are advertised as being in good condition...

At less than £2 each (inc p&p) I suppose you can't complain!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I'm puzzled how they could post them for such a small amount, to be honest. With Royal Mail, that certainly wouldn't even be 'signed for' (which is £3.82 second class) and barely even just normal second class postage for the size and weight of the parcel! They might just fit into the 'small parcel' category...but the seller would only be making 8p on the second class postage if so, lol.

I send all of my books 'second-class signed for' - so the postage always costs me £3.82. I've never sent as many as 8 Adventure books for that price though. I'm sure the dimensions of the parcel would be too big to be a 'small parcel' so I'm not sure they would be making any profit whatsoever!

I'll warm me with your echoes

Your postage costs are different to mine, how does that work if they are both Royal Mail? :?

My post office charge £3.24 for a second class signed for large letter and £3.95 for small parcel. Are Post offices allowed to differ their prices or something depending on the area?

All my books, when wrapped, come out as slightly bigger than a large letter, so I have to send them as a small parcel. Not sure why your charges for a small parcel signed for are slightly more expensive than mine, though! I rarely go to a post office, but buy my postage through the Royal Mail 'click and drop' service online.

I always thought Rob was a nice guy - I'm now having second thoughts after all the national Post Office closures he's caused! :D

Well, if the Royal Mail have made services cheaper online, surely that's why? They have encouraged us to buy postage online. Its 13p cheaper, which is quite a bit if you have several parcels to send! :D

My dad and I do still use our post office, but as I often have books to post - sometimes two or three a week - and often after post office closing times - as I like to get them off within a few hours of being ordered - I used the post box in our road, which is more convenient.

Our post office on The Green at Kings Norton, is still going strong - although its now part of a convenience store. 8)

It's not only the good old PO, though. Many shops now have signs encouraging you to shop online. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot...

Well I am doing my bit to keep our post office open as I don't use the online postage service other than to work out costs :P. I do wish these companies and shops would think before shoving everything online though, I like to buy online yes, but I don't want to be forced to use it for everything, especially services where you feel far happier speaking to someone face to face.
