It can't be from the 1930s if it is truly a Famous Five jigsaw! They weren't referred to as "famous" until the early 50s were they? And they didn't exist before 1942. Interesting though.

I've got that on my shelves. I've never got around to opening the book though!

I've got this too, (it certainly isn't "very rare" - I quite often see these jigsaws in the Charity shops/etc). They're actually quite nice jigsaws: I've got several and the pictures are always quite striking and colourful.

I can't remember where I got mine from, but it was probably a school fete. I doubt I paid more than £1 for it.

I reckon they are 1950s then, rather than 1930s. I must start looking at jigsaws in charity shops! I usually just make a beeline for the books.

I don't think they are that old Daisy. I've had a quick look in The Cave and couldn't spot it. On the back of the box there is a bar code and the 'CE' mark, which I don't think they had back then. I think possibly the 1930s confusion is because next to the bar code it says 'Ref No. 1930'.

The copyright is for Enid Blyton Ltd., it's made by Paul Lamond Games. Can't see any date, but I would guess it's no more than 20 years old at the most, and more likely about 10.

As Katharine rightly says, these are modern 21st century items. Paul Lamond produced a number of Blyton jigsaws but they are too modern to be in the Cave, very easy to find and shouldn't cost more than a pound or two at the most.

Well when he gets his evaluation I hope he shares it as I've got that jigsaw and am looking to make some money. Seriously, he can't be stupid enough to believe that's 80+ years old and/or valuable?
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I had a few of them but didn't really like them so gave them away to a charity shop - a bit too modern. I think I kept one, just for the sake of it. I'd start the bidding opening offer at maybe 20p. :-)

Either he's NOT stupid and he's trying to gyp some ill-informed bidders, or else he's got rocks in his head.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
