Secret Seven Mystery Jigsaw Puzzle Game

Post by pete9012S »

Haven't seen this one before.
Interesting that the cover bears no relation to the jigsaw inside.
The cover is very similar to the 1991 Award edition in the cave.

It could be one of those mystery puzzles where they don't show you what the finished picture looks like on the cover - you have to read the story included with the puzzle, fit the puzzle together and then find the clues to the solution of the mystery in the picture (which is why they don't show it on the outside of the box).

As an example, I remember once doing one with a more grown-up theme, i.e. a murder mystery - the puzzle showed the crime scene, and if you looked carefully, you could see that there was the imprint of a left hand on the handle of the knife used in the murder. So then it was just a matter of reading back through the story to see which of the suspects was left-handed...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I wondered what the puzzle looked like - I have had it in its box for many years, there are several others in the same series. I was waiting until my 7th birthday before I started it!

I have that puzzle - here -

Also a Famous Five one, which is pictured next to it. I had quite a few more modern Famous Five and Adventure puzzles, but gave many of the more recent ones away to charity shops.

I always think it's a shame that the puzzle picture doesn't match the box, at least in style, if not picture. The box designs are very well drawn, but the puzzles are a slight disappointment.

It's a very lovely collection of ephemera, Robert! I love just by looking at those! I think it's better if you could post the photo in "my bookcase" thread( my favourite thread now) so that the photo would not disappear under the piles of other threads. :)

The photo actually did come from the bookcase thread, but I copied it over to here as well! ;-)

Thank you for letting me know, Robert. :D

I must have overlooked that photo because I was so engrossed in squinting my eyes to read the titles of your books.
