Five Go Down to the Sea, with unclipped dust jacket, published in 1969.
The book is in very good condition & the dust jacket just has slight shelf wear.

Five Get Into Trouble, first edition printed in 1949, no dust jacket.

Five Go Down to the Sea + Five Get Into Trouble 1st Ed
I thought these two books looked like good value at £4.99.

Re: Five Go Down to the Sea + Five Get Into Trouble 1st Ed
A very good bargain Pete. It would have been nice for the 1st edition to have a dust jacket. But I think the price won't stay at that for two books.
Why don't you try and get them, they look nice books anyway.

It's a buy-it-now Julie, not bidding so whoever buys will get them at that price.

If they'd both been firsts I might have bought them to replace the later impressions I have. But Sea is a second edition (Brockhampton) so there's little point.

Re: Five Go Down to the Sea + Five Get Into Trouble 1st Ed
I just snapped 'em up - thanks, Pete. Five Go Down to the Sea is my favourite FF book, but I only ever had a Betty Maxey version, and Trouble is another one I'd love to re-read with (in my opinion) the proper illustrations. Having a first edition is a bonus, but not essential for me!
I might give Five Get Into Trouble to my mum if I don't decide to keep it for myself - she loves old editions of the Famous Five, and that one was published in her birth year!

I never noticed that, Fiona. Well in that case a very good bargain for both books. You have a bargain there, Courtenay.Fiona1986 wrote:It's a buy-it-now Julie, not bidding so whoever buys will get them at that price.
I have all my Famous Five books, with dust jacekts and some 1st editions, so I'm happy with my set.

The postage cost almost as much as the books, as they're coming from the Isle of Man and the seller only offered first class, but oh well! Even at just under £5 each, they're still a bargain. And at least I know they'll come before I leave for Australia in just over a week, so I can take them with me and show them to Mum. (I'll show her my EBS Journals as well - I think she'll really enjoy them.)
