I'm afraid that I just can't sleep if I watch really scary films. I had problems sleeping for a week after watching Silence of the Lambs and would never watch it again. I've never seen the film of A Little Princess that you mentioned Topsy-Turvey. When was it aired on TV? I really like the book and...

She saw that the face was topped by black, thick hair, and had bright eyes and a cheerful expression. "Don't you make a sound, l'il gal," said the man...He sounded American! "Don't you say I'm here. I'm just a poor man, lost and alone."......."But this poor fellah's gotten ...

Hey Zoekast! Oh well, your brother won't know what he's missing then :) I don't think I've ever tried very hard to collect books with their DJ's before...I feel that if I can afford the book (in its good, old, original text) - I feel very blessed indeed already!! :)

Having started this topic, I have to say that I feel a bit stupid that I don't know quite a few of the films - or else I have heard of them but not seen. Anita, is Oliver the musical the only film that's been done in a musical form? I have seen one ages ago but I don't know if it's the same....I rem...

Favourite Films

I haven't seen this topic so I thought I would kick start it off...what are your favourite films? You can list one or two, preferably something oldish or not very recent to qualify...this can be something you enjoy watching repeatedly :) Mine are Labyrinth (David Bowie, Jennifer Conelly) and A Littl...

I can't believe the prices they are going for on eBay!! :?

What ARE the CDs like, for those who have heard them? Living in bustling, cosmopolitan London I feel silly asking for freebies, especially with the impatient people I'm surrounded by...

Actually, did the Famous Five, especially the boys, even wear sandals? I remember that Cyril in the Six Cousins books is criticised for wearing sandals - I've never really understood why but it appears to have been considered effeminate or something I remember that well too. On the other hand in th...

I cast my vote!! I'm actually surprised that the the voting has been rather close for the 2 of them. I thought Fatty would have streaked ahead (in his jogging regime days of losing weight). I love Fatty: he makes me laugh to bits. Besides, can you imagine Julian spouting nonsensical "pome...

Topsy-Turvy Going-Ons...

Just me, glad to be back in London and to post something on the forum at last with my internet back up. Yay! I ought to explain that I did do some travelling last week to Bruges (purely for holiday! Can I take the chance to advertise Bruge heavily here...I love the little medieval town area!) and wi...

Yes I'm back (again!) and if you want an update of what I've been doing, see the General Natter forum. Agree with Keith, I'd love to know if anyone has a copy true to what Enid first wrote when she started writing. I'm more inclined to think that the publishers (any of them) won't have a copy of the...

Book of Brownies

I just reread this again lately and what a great story! I thought it was really funny about them being in the Land of Clever People. I remember being alarmed that the witch got away though :)

More on Dogs and Harry Potter...

Shadow is great =) it's a shame it's not really published anymore; only EB's main book series (FF, SS, FFOAD) are printed I think these days. Anyone read about Scamp the dog? It's similar except Scamp is a house dog, not a sheep dog. Any one tried the dog training tips in these books? I loved the fi...

Re: Characters' First Names in the Books

I love Barney in the books too :) However the only Barney I can think of (personwise) these days is that purple dinosaur.... Why wouldn't you give Lucy-Ann as a name though? What wonderful news Belly on your soon-to-come baby :) Is that why your nickname is Belly? ;) Talking about names, it ...

Hi Robert, I guessed it might just be lobster but it sounded like something really normal if you were at the seaside in the book! I haven't seen anything like that so I just wondered! I must try looking out the next time (I wonder when!) I go to the seaside. I normally just have tea and biscuits/cak...
