Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!
I am currently reading The Sea of Adventure . It was the very first Blyton book that I read, followed by two more Adventure books, but I didn't read my fourth one until I was in my 40s! As the children are relaxing comfortably on a springy bed of heather, I keep wondering whether Enid ever t...

Re: Americans try British food!
Although I eat the occasional crumpet, they're not favourites of mine. In an episode of Call the Midwife one of the nuns said she didn't eat crumpets because they were "too multicellular and too spongiform." A wonderful description which sums up my own feelings about them exactly! My frie...

Famous Five Festival
Merged with an older thread.
Is anyone going to the Famous Five Festival at RHS Wisley or know anything about it? Spotted it this evening but there's a server error and I can't access their website.

Re: Americans try British food!
According to a programme that I saw on tv. In Devon, the clotted cream goes on first while in Cornwall the jam goes on first. (for some reason I made a note of this in the 'notes' page of my 2014 diary). Jack really needs to get out more! Being from neither, over here in sunny(ish) Sussex I'm...

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
Have you seen Richard Chamberlain in The Slipper And The Rose? It's one of my favourite films, it's the story of Cinderella, and it's really well done with beautiful costumes and sets etc, and amazing music. It's on YouTube (it's uploaded strangely so it doesn't fill the screen but it's still watch...

Re: Last Song You Listened To
We were watching a documentary on Stevie Nicks the other night, I do love her voice.
I'm listening to music as I'm writing this so it's changing but current favourite is Sia's 'Alive' - for a contemporary song it's very powerful (and I think it helps that Adele co-wrote it - two unique women).

Thanks Tony, I'm still getting to grips with the Secret Passage. Are they available there or for new members?

Re: Bill's Diary
Apologies for jumping into a thread but is the first of the esteemed Terry's 'Bill's Diary' Series the 1946 one, relating to Valley or did he write any relevant to the first two books? I've read and re-read all of them and they inspired me so much unfortunately it means I've ended up writing about a...
