Thanks Pete!
I have tried Rob's suggestion, but my first attempt not too great. Although, I had to use two A4 wallets, because one wasn't big enough for the whole DJ.
I am sure I will get better the more I do!
Cheers,
Lex

Sounds good to me, Rob!

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
Great buy, Rob! I've a few Blytons now needing protective sleeves for the DJs - but I am unsure what I actually need to buy! Does anyone know what/where I need to look (including sizes, etc)? And also the best way to prepare them? One needing protection is a Five on Kirrin Island Again - a 1st with ...

Re: Childhood Comics and Annuals
I know my Mum used to despair at the tonnes of books/annuals I had!
When I - finally - left home, I remember emptying the bottom of my wardrobe and finding that the weight had caused the bottom to collapse. And the wardrobe was a solid Victorian thing too!

Re: Childhood Comics and Annuals
80s BMXing! I dreamed of a blue Raleigh Burner with yellow mags! There was the film BMX bandits - and I am sure a series of books too? With regards to valuable comic collections, I remember the chap at work telling me that he had all the early - I think Marvel - comics, which he kept in his wardrobe...

Re: Childhood Comics and Annuals
I've probably got the same annuals somewhere too, Rob! Topper was also one of my faves - I actually got a cartoon published with them when I was about 8 years old. My prize was a big cardboard box full of every conceivable joke trick known to man (whoopee cushions, packet of chewing gum with a mouse...

Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!
Every year, in the run up to Christmas, I used to always dig out my 1983 Knight paperback of Five Go Adventuring Again. This was the first 'five' book I read and it had a great festive vibe - even the cover artwork was very seasonal too! I did see a coverless 1st edition of this book recently come u...

Re: Hello Enid Blyton Society!
Thanks Dinah - really pleased you liked it! And, it would be also great if you could leave a review on Amazon, if possible! I have actually started writing the sequel - this time set on the rugged Yorkshire coastline - and I hope to involve more of the characters you have mentioned. Although, Stacy ...

Re: Football Stories by Enid Blyton 1922 - 1955
A great book/story, Pete! What's the last line, now? "Strikers? I can buy and sell em!" I also seem to remember a story from that book about a lad caught stealing a load of oranges - and the only way to get rid of the evidence is to eat them all! I am sure it's one of the stories in that c...

Re: Football Stories by Enid Blyton 1922 - 1955
I can't remember any Blyton books featuring football - the only sporting theme I remember was the cricket bat short story featured in Tales After Supper. I loved this story - mainly because I also had an autographed cricket bat and fancied myself as a future Yorkshire star (although, I was never all...

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
Some great photos of all your book collections - I'm very jealous!
My kids have pretty much taken over the bookcase downstairs with their toys, but I am still just about managing to keep some of my Blyton, Agatha Christie and Charles Dickens books on display (on the higher shelves, of course)!

Many thanks - I'm really pleased you enjoyed it and appreciate the feedback. Sorry about the typos - kindle publishing gives you the option to continuously edit so I will try and hunt some of these down!
Thanks again,

Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!
Currently reading Mystery of the Burnt Cottage - a first edition copy bought earlier this year (no DJ). I don't know what it is about reading a Blyton 1st edition, but it does make it a much more pleasurable experience. Brings back childhood memories of reading the old Blyton editions borrowed from ...

Re: Books you didn't like?
Good idea, Courtney! My daughter would be with you, anyway - she absolutely loves Noddy!
And I say we also put forward the motion of a Banshee Towers Appreciation Society too - then all will be right with the world!
Cheers,
Lex

Re: Books you didn't like?
Forgot about Adrian Mole trying to paint out Noddy's bells! Made me chuckle! Noddy - love or hate him, he won't go away! Yes, I think it is definitely just me that likes Banshee Towers lol! I think I'm going to have to re-read it - has been awhile and you never know my view might change. Hope it doe...
