Re: Was Enid Blyton the servant of Satan?
That was ridiculous...... after reading that article brings up all the words/events in Blyton books that nowadays would be considered very dodgy. Servant of Satan? No, Angel brought down to tell great stories to children

Really? Imogen approved it? But I always thought it showed her in a really bad light?

Re: Did Enid smoke?
Would seem likely...I think the Blyton film made by the BBC showed Helena Bonham Carter smoking as she played the role, but the BBC don't like Blyton..they could have just put that in anyways

Re: The New Famous Five
I absolutely hated the new series. I watched to episodes and turned my tv off. I can't get used to it - they haven't kept the essence of Blyton in it at all - It's like Inspector gadget or something, so why even call it the Famous five? The only thing I recognize is the character's names!

Re: Bill and Clarissa
Yeah, I agree with Manzanita - It never had occured to me about this, before I had read this thread, but I find it ridiculous. They're just friends who ride horses! I didn't get to read the follow-ups by Pamela Cox, to be honest I didn't want the Malory Towers to be continued after Blyton

Re: Malory Towers v St Clare's
Malory Towers, I think the atmosphere is much better than St. Clares, the building, I agree, and if the characters count too, definitely Malory for me!

Re: Enid Blyton Biopic on BBC4
I am pretty sure Imogen wasn't very happy. I just want to share something interesting with you that happened at school: Me: Did you watch Enid? A friend: Yes. She was horrible. Me: (gasp) You see what an affect this film has had? Another friend: She was mean to her kids. I spent twenty minute...

Re: Enid Blyton Biopic on BBC4
Asking on a purely superficial and not deep and searching level, did that 'dramatisation' actually imply there was anything nice about Enid? I don't for a minute think she was all hearts and flowers but I could not find one redeeming feature in that 'Enid' It's very difficult to watch something lik...

Re: BBC Archive
'literary taste'. That is ridiculous. It is most likely if children like myself read Enid Blyton that we/I read many other authors too. It seems almost as if they are trying to imply that Enid's work is not beneficial. Personally, I have learnt many things e.g about puffins' extinction (Island of ad...

Heh! They reject her first couple of times round, and now years later, it makes me very proud to know the BBC is making a drama about Enid! It just proves how wrong people can be at first

Re: Enid Blyton Biopic on BBC4
Don't know if anyone watched it - but on BBC news today they talked about Enid Blyton's work being rejected by the BBC when Enid had written in. Apparently they found data where the BBC said her work was 'too full of pixies'. How horrible! I'm so glad even despite the rejections they have in the pas...
