Re: Famous Five adaptation on BBC

About fifteen minutes ago there was a brief segment about the TV series on the news (BBC). The children playing Anne, Dick and George said they hadn't read any Famous Five books, and when Flora Jacoby Richardson (Anne) tried reading one of them after her fifth audition, she gave up after two chapte...

Re: What Are You Doing Now?

Today’s young reader is unlikely to have read Hans Christian Andersen’s 1844 fairy tale The Snow Queen, in which young Gerda saves her friend Kai from eternal winter after he’s cursed by a broken mirror I saw this while browsing an article on The Telegraph and I was wondering, this is surely not tr...

Re: Your top ten favourites in classical music.

Listening to the Valse Sentimentale by Tchaikovsky on repeat these days, it's truly so beautiful!

I must say Tchaikovsky and Mozart are the two composers who really do accompany me with their music every day. I seriously do love them so much! :D

Re: Which Film(s) Have You Seen Recently?

I watched my first Kurt Wallander film just two weeks ago, 'Before the Frost' (Innan Frosten) , and I must say I was quite impressed. I truly loved the way the movie was crafted and how the plot unfolded. I'm not a big fan of thriller or action movies, but I would consider this one among the best I'...

Re: General Natter Room

I've been checking the EBS forums and posting comments every now and then for the past few months so I'd thought I'd give a brief update on how's life going for me! I recently graduated (in June this year!) from my BSc Physics here in Lund University (Sweden) after three stressful but truly fruitful...

Re: What Are You Doing Now?

Yesterday at 1.10 am I watched live on YouTube the Luna-25 Spacecraft Launch! :D It was truly so exciting to witness this historical event! This was always something I had seen in documentaries and films so it felt breathtaking to know it was actually happening, in real time. :D It also made me thin...

What is the book you read entitled? I have read The Seven Ages of Death and I also have Unnatural Causes ! Maria Esther, Dr. Richard Shepherd is currently fronting a series of programs I have just started recording and watching on the 'CBS Reality' channel here in the UK, entitled 'The Truth About ...

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?

However, this book of hers that I am currently reading is non-fiction, entitled "Forensics - The Anatomy of Crime" , which she wrote in 2014/15. Whilst the title more or less speaks for itself, it is quite an in-depth look into the sciences used in today's crime investigations. That sound...

Re: Which Film(s) Have You Seen Recently?

Yesterday I watched the 1976 Soviet film adaptation of The Little Mermaid ( Rusalochka ). Such a gorgeous adaptation! :D The adaptation of the story may not have followed the original plot closely, but the changes made were remarkably fitting! The accompanying soundtrack added a deeply emotional tou...

Re: Famous Five adaptation on BBC

I must say I love the 1990s FF adaptations too, and I firmly believe Jemima Rooper made an excellent George but I first encountered the 1970s FF series when I was six years old (a few years before I even read my first FF book! And I guess that's might be the drawback of becoming acquainted with the ...

Re: Famous Five adaptation on BBC

I know people will disagree with me, and there is a place for colour blind casting. I also wouldn't want every historical fiction turn into a lecture about how racist society was and how dreadful. But pretending that history that makes us uncomfortable didn't happen means that today's generation is...
