Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
Is it a blog I can find on the internet, or is it simply a book written in that style? Sounds interesting but I'm worrying a bit at the same time (usually my expectations are too high )Moonraker wrote:I am reading the St Mallory's book we were talking about earlier. Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
Thanks for the link, Poppy. I'll go right over there and have a look. I've downloaded all the volume in pdf-format (a very good one pdf publication). But reading on my phone was not fun at all. I thus decided to buy the volumes 1-6 that I didn't have and found them all for real cheap. Hope vol. 5 co...

Re: The most touching book you have read till date.
I think two of the most touching books I've ever read were "Mon ami Frédéric" (My friend Frederick, original German title: "Damals war es Friedrich" published in 1961) by German author Hans Peter Richter which depicts the friendship between a boy who is an alter ego of the author...

I am currently listening - does it count? - to "The Enchanted Wood" read by Kate Winslet. A real thrill! And a very nice story too.

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
I eventually got to discover Harry Potter (the books) during my holidays and I read the four first volumes in something like a few days :D Now half-through vol. 5. And when I'm finished reading, I will watch the movies (for the first time too ;) ) @Poppy: if you give me the address of your blog, you...

Re: Changing Illustrations In The Books..
This is indeed a never-ending subject. I don't know many of the English illustrators, but those - sometimes very weird - changes in illustrations are visible in French and German editions too. And when I look at the French ones, I'm quite appalled! but I can't imagine children looking at the modern ...

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
I'm still reading the first Jennings book. I'm really enjoying it, (...) I am very happy to hear that, Katharine. I like the way that adults are included more than they are in most of Enid Blyton's books, and on the whole find the books is flowing well, (...) Yes, me too :) But I've been interested...

Re: What other author are you reading at the moment?
On the contrary, Anne, I believe firmly in reading the book first. Me too, Farwa, but sometimes I haven't taken the time to read the book before going to the movie theatre... I suggest you try it some time. I am sure you would like it better, as you yourself admit it is not "too good fo...

Re: Learning Welsh (and Other Languages)
Split from another topic. I have always thought that French people are very... intolerant when it comes to languages. Most of them are not ready to learn another language. And they do not really tolerate that foreigners speak to them in another language than French! It is nombrilistic (does this wo...
