Re: TV Programmes

War Of The Worlds is okay; though I might not have bothered but for the Victorian, British setting. I lost interest in the Dublin Murders after two episodes (and in Vienna Blood after thirty minutes). Just finished rewatching 'The Killing' AKA 'Forbrydelsen' (1) and 'Borgen' (1-3) on DVD. Fifty epis...

Re: The Weather

Not been bad on East Yorks coast today but I'll share a few tips. Autumn/winter survival prep:- 1. Make pot of tea 2. Inspect last winters sweaters 3. Say 'they'll do' 4. Put scarf on -perspire - say "too early" 5. Stifle a tear thinking about summer 6. Wait for mid Feb so you can pretend ...

Re: Football

I have done the odd evening game in the past at the KCom but used to have to leave on about 65-70 mins to get the last train. Which was kinda rubbish..

Re: Downton Abbey!

I like 'Downright Shabby' but I rarely go to a cinema. I last went for the Harry Potters and suspect I may never bother again. I'm hoping DA will be the Christmas Day TV movie in 2020.

Have to say though that I think that its spiritual predecessor, Upstairs Downstairs, was better still.

Just read a great observation on Twitter about the HS2 (high-speed) rail link:-

"We can't build a railway line that our Victorian ancestors would have built with shovels".

Re: Gets earlier every year?

A colleague picked up all of her presents at Argos, two weeks ago.

I told this - incredulous - this to a friend and he admitted that he has bought most of his too.

Can't be long before our Co-op puts its mincepies out.
