Re: Derek Lucas - Secret Seven illustrations

You're giving me way too much credit, Pete. I didn't do anything, really. Unlike Eileen Soper,Derek Lucas ...

Re: Changing Illustrations In The Books..
I loved all the illustrations I came across as a kid - and they weren't always the originals. They were 'my' version of the characters... I used to thoroughly believe I might one day meet these characters - even maybe climb the faraway tree...but I can't imagine children looking at the modern Famou...

Re: The Secret Seven Japanese style
That's really cool!
I am a huge lover for pretty much anything Japanese. Yet, I prefer not mixing my love for Blyton's worlds with manga-like illustrations. I find it quite interesting though, and I can see it work.

Re: Eileen Soper or Betty Maxey?

But it was the commission ...

Re: Betty Maxey illustrations (Famous Five)
While I was scanning the pictures from "Kirrin Island Again", I was mindful of the feelings of the Soperites amongst us and took the liberty of touching up one of the pictures so it might be more appealing to those who feel that Betty Maxey wasn't as "artistically talented" as E...

Absolutely loving these, Tony and Walter. Thank you both so very much. I'm not sure, but I think Pete scanned Five Go To Billycock Hill. There are some illustrations I don't remember myself. :? The illustrations of Five On Kirrin Island Again are also very beautiful, although Anne looks kind of funn...

Re: Betty Maxey illustrations (Famous Five)
I was thinking of saying something to this effect, but decided to be polite. Actually, it would have been more like "so we can all see just how much more artistically talented Soper was..." You went and said it anyway.   While I get how people generally prefer So...
