Re: Going to Blyton country - suggest places to visit
Hi Number 6, Sorry I would have to seriously challenge the notion that Robin Hood was from Nottingham. I watched an epsiode of Last of the Summer Wine and they were very clear that the old rogue was from Yorkshire. Having worked for a company in Yorkshire, I can believe how the rich would not want t...

Re: Going to Blyton country - suggest places to visit
Hi Number 6,
Ah maybe. It was beautiful though and a fabulous settig for a cup of tea and home made scones.
Just out of curiosity do you mean notts or yorkshire when you say Robin Hood country?
Regards
Mac

Re: Going to Blyton country - suggest places to visit
Glad you had a good time, Mac99! There is a pool described in one book where it is said chemicals make the water appear green. That is the pool that seems to me to be inspired by Dorset's Blue Pool. I can't remember in which book it featured though! :| Hi Moonraker, Just spent some time over the we...

Re: Going to Blyton country - suggest places to visit
I'm interested to read about a connection between Cheddar Gorge and Enid Blyton books as it's possibly where we will go for our holiday next year. Can anyone tell me what the connection is, as I wasn't aware there was one? Hi Katherine, The link is the use of the caves in so many books as I think i...

Re: Going to Blyton country - suggest places to visit
Hi Mac99, Glad you enjoyed your time in Dorset and got to see some of the sights that may have inspired Enid. Pity you didn't get the chance to visit Brownsea Island, though. When I first visited Blue pool, I immediately thought of Enid's description of the lake in 'Five on a hike together'. If you...

Re: Going to Blyton country - suggest places to visit
Hi Moonraker, It has been a while since my post. I did go to Dorset at the time and went a few weeks ago for a longer stay. I only managed a long weekend all those years ago and had just one day in Dorest. I managed to cram in an awful lot including The Blue Pool, Corfe Castle and the steam train do...

Re: February 2009 - site moved to new server
Hi Moonraker, Your 100/54 reading is for the network in your pc/laptop and the maximum capable under that. Your 9.8Mb reading is the true reading of the ISP. The 9.8Mb is down to your ISP and if you are with Virgin then I believe for an extra amount you can bump this up to at least 20Mb and in some ...

Hi Ming,
Yes it is a really old thread. It was when I discovered the joys of broadband and EB Society. Almost everything found on EB was a joy and new. I was only thinking the other day how we managed without the internet and Google.

Mac

re: dvd drive
hiya lucky star, its a faulty laser on your drive. the cost of repairing is far far more than the cost of buying a new one. cd/dvd drives or cd/dvd writers are very cheap to buy and you can replace yourself. 4 screws, 1 data lead, i audio lead and 1 power lead. you cant mix the leads because they wi...
