Re: Which Famous Five TV Series?
My 'dream' Four would be Marcus, Garry, Jemima and Anne. Sorry if that seems unfair to Michele, but Jemima has to be in the team! Don't forget Toddy Woodbridge as Timmy. Awww old Toddy must be well into his 30's now, I wonder if he is enjoying retirement (Hey i can pretend he is still out there som...

Re: MT & SC, Similar Characters?
Hello, sorry if this topic has already been covered but I couldn't see it anywhere... Well I was just wondering, in the st clares series and the Malory towers series why the characters have almost exacly the same personalities, just different names, did Blyton run out of ideas or something? Gwen - ...

Re: Jemima Rooper
And Can I just add? Most of the posts on Jemima Rooper come from either me or Good Ole Nigel? Ah, Jemima. will you be minea? [sorry] Jemima was the perfect George imo. Imagine being cast away on an island with Jemina and Jenny Thanisch. Who would need Dick and Ju?! Funnily enough, it was Hex ...

Re: Did these girls deserve to be expelled?
I'd have been out the door pretty quick too :) Really, tho, Anne's father, are you sure they'd expel a pupil for just one of those things? They would surely lose a lot in fees. Plus, I do not think that ONE transgression an uncurable sinner makes. You would be on a final warning probably for mild p...

Re: Did these girls deserve to be expelled?
The rules for private schools are much more seriously enforced than in state schools. My kids go to a private school and a single punch on on another student, possesion of cigerettes, extreme profanity, disrepecting a teacher or cheating would get them instantly expelled. Result is NONE OF IT EVER ...

Re: Children Today
Personally, I don't think it's more dangerous - when I was growing up in the 70s/80s we were warned about bad folk. There always has been bad people - how much was hidden in the past? Exactly. If anything, I would think there might have even been more 'creepy' people in the past. After all, their m...

Re: Which Famous Five TV Series?
I've got the 1990s series on DVD (minus Smugglers Top) and have been impressed. George is an excellent portrayal and Ann and Dick are both sympathetically done. The Julian character is much more pompous than the books. I am awaiting the DVDs of the 1970's series so am unable to judge them but havin...

*Old Aurélien lurketh in stealth mode, wearing his trusty cloak of invisibility* Hmmm, well: " Aurélien " is the French version of the name of a Roman Emperor; " Arkadiusz " is the Polish version of the Greek Arkadios , filtered through the Russian version of Arkadius . French a...

Re: Adventure Series on the iPhone
what is O&D? Outers and Dog. As in Fatty and Co. I think Nigel must have gotten mixed up between them and the Adventure mob. I'd be surprised if there were illustrations on an e-book when there are none in the latest published paper versions. Its probably a reference to the cover pic which show...

Re: Was it Alzheimer's?
In the final book in the Find Outers series, The Mystery of Banshee Towers , there is an extra character. Let's call her 'Dementia'. Dementia surely accounts for Superintendent Jenks being demoted to Inspector. Dementia no doubt accounts for Fatty being so slow on the uptake throughout. That sad bo...
