Re: Readathon 20/04/20 - Mystery of the Strange Messages

Firstly I'm grateful to Daisy for mentioning this readathon in another thread as it's just what I need right now. It will be such fun to read along and chat with everyone. I'm pleased with the choice too as I am more familiar with the earlier titles and don't remember anything about this one at all....

Ooops, I'm so sorry Boatbuilder, my brain is doing rather a lot of scrambling this evening!

That's interesting Bannerman, thank you.

I've read this book many times and that has never jumped out at me before, so I'm sure it's only because of the times we're in now and the fact that the WHO is in the news so much.

Yes, it was the fact that the word was written in capitals that my brain transposed it

Re: What Enid Blyton book are you reading right NOW!

What better way to forget about the virus for a while than to read Enid Blyton books, so I'm galloping through the St Clare's series, now on Fifth Formers. On page 86 (of the paperback) there's the line "WHO rang that fire-bell?" which my brain read as World Health Organisation rang that f...

I think I remember that series Anita. Were there two families feuding quite bitterly?

Re: Doll Family

Colette, Mara is spot on! I just saw this thread now and recognised it right away as A Child of Their Own. I am a dolls house collector and have a shelf full of books like this. This particular one is one of my favourites and I've re-read it many times. How wonderful that everyone in your school was...

I was very sad to hear that today too. We would never miss The Late Late Show on a Friday night when he was the host. I think probably every house in Ireland was the same. RIP Gaybo

Re: Secret Lives - Enid Blyton (1996)

This old tape is serving up even more goodies, after Secret Lives came Gillian Baverstock on Collector's Lot, and then a special Blue Peter Guide to Enid Blyton with Gillian appearing briefly on that too. :D Edit: And Record Breakers, with, you've guess it, Gillian. These recordings are all dated No...

Re: Secret Lives - Enid Blyton (1996)

Billy Farmer and Katharine - I have some fairly good news for you - I've just found an old VHS tape at the back of a bookcase which has this programme on it! It's only fairly good news because my original TV signal at that time was pretty grainy, although as I live in the South West of Ireland I was...

Re: Looking for specific 90's Enid Blyton Magazine

Hi Nicholas
That's a lovely idea for a Christmas surprise for your girlfriend. I feel sure it must be the Enid Blyton Mystery & Suspense magazine, going by the date. I can't tell you which one as I don't have them, but I'm sure someone on here will. Good luck!
