Re: Which Film(s) Have You Seen Recently?
@Boodi 2, I know that you are a "Fab Four" fan, if you are a John Lennon fan, then I would recommend: - Nowhere Boy - this covers the younger days, upto the beginning of Beatlemania - Backbeat - the early Beatles years - A Hard Day's Night - a fictionilised version of Beatlemania - Lennon...

Re: What Enid Blyton book have you recently bought?
Looking forward to receiving the same set Secret series paperbacks from the 80s.
I felt a bit bad as the whole lot was only £3.99 - of which £3 was for the postage and packaging. I'd have happily paid more - but no one else put a bid in.

Re: The Island of Adventure Film
In addition to the link that @MaccasAU posted, the film is also on YouTube.

Sadly, the film is so different to the book.

Re: The Secret Series
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceQ8smSio3Q What in god's name is this? It's got characters like Nanny Betts to replace Miss Dimity, kids with different names, Thadeus a sailor, Clovis Monk and Charlotte Clancy. I hadn't come across the tv series before, but this is an absolute abomination. I think ...

Patrins were the signpostings that gypsies left for each other. I have only come across that word in EB books.

Re: Get Into a Fix: using a real Welsh incident?
On the subject of "Five Get Into a Fix", considering that Aily barely speaks a word of English, she has an improbably named dog called Dave. Reading a review by Keith Robinson, it turns out that EB had named two dogs as Dai. One belonging to Morgan and the other to Aily. At some point, Ail...

Just saw this on Amazon: Initial post: 18 Jul 2009, 16:18:09 BST MRS O says: My 9 year old and 6 year olds have loved all the Enid Blyton stories - especially school stories and famous five on both audio and book form. Where do we go now? The books I loved in my childhood are for slightly older chil...

Re: What dog breed for Enid Blyton story?
I couldn't agree more with you, IceMaiden. The Timmy that Enid Blyton described in the FF books certainly is not the one illustrated by Eileen Soper.

Re: What dog breed for Enid Blyton story?
Timmy seemed to be a Berger Picard in the Eileen Soper illustrations, imo.

It's from the "Imagine: John Lennon" film - an absolutely superb film about John.
