Re: Malory Towers Dream Team
I am not familiar with the British actors at all ... Hopefully, the story Malory Towers movie would reflect the spirit of the original books - the story MUST take place in the forties, I really DISLIKE modernization of books, I know I am a little conservative and narrow-minded concerning this topic....

Re: Cats
I have got such a lovely present for Christmas ...
Do you know the book "Cats behaving badly" by Celia Haddon?
You see, I am on a bad terms with my former cat.
Maybe I will understand some reactions and her cruel behaviour when I read this book ...

Re: Other boarding school stories similar to Enid Blyton's ?
There was a Danish version of Malory Towers "Pitti" by Lis Werner, I remember ...
And, of course, I enjoyed "Trotzkopf" (stubborn person) which is very similar to "What Katy did" - a young spoilt girl which got tamed in a boarding school.

Re: Which is the best St Clare's book?
"I hesitate to read Enid Blyton in public at my age because it feels like a guilty pleasure, and one that a lot of people might not understand." Well, Anita, I sometimes do not DARE to admit that I am a member of this forum being totally interested and fond of children´s literature because...

Re: Which is the best St Clare's book?
My favourite St. Clare´s book was the story when Margery rescued Erica - it was the last book of these series - I got it on my ninth birthday (Monday before lent) as a present from my mother.

but seemed to me as a selfish and stupid rat ..
I just want to write "selfish and stupid BRAT" as Gwendolyn has been described (Malory Towers) in this forum.
I did not want to refer him as a kind of vermin, I am sorry!

Re: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
Even the fence is ultimately more important as a symbol than as a physical entity - a separation between people that the two boys in their innocence manage to transcend. Well-said, Anita, you are totally right. My judgement was a little bit too hard, I have been reading several books about the holo...

Re: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
Well, I have to admit I was a little bit disappointed when I read this book ... Bruno was described as a spoilt and pampered naive boy - but seemed to me as a selfish and stupid rat! He smelled the smoke of the burned corpses, he met a boy prisoner behind the fence - this friendship took one year or...

Re: Ever named a pet after a character in EB`s books???
What names did you use? Perhaps you called one of them Dolly :) , which I believe is the name of Darrell in the German Malory Towers books? No, Anita I named myself Dolly - I remember when we started learning English with ten years we are requested to choose English names for us to get familiar with...

Re: Other Authors I Enjoy
When I was nine years old I was very fond of Patricia M. St. John who must be a very popular English author, too. I am still loving "Tanglewood´s secret" - it has such a "dreamy atmosphere" ... Later I found out that a movie based on this book was made, too, but I didn´t enjoy it...
