Re: Looking For Fatty & co. in Peterswood/Bourne End

I have just returned to have a look at these forums after a long absence, and found this thread. Goodness! I don't think I have ever read such a fascinating thread anywhere, on any topic! Congratulations to all who have contributed, especially VS & GH of course. An absolutely wonderful (and impo...

Re: I Always Think.......

I can picture her and Jack, Dinah and Philip, all widowed now, living out their days in Craggy Tops which they have had completely renovated inside from their accumulated wealth. All together again in the place where it all began. Jack is still searching for the Great Auk but alas his eyes are not ...

I'm only just coming back to EB after a very long absence, but wasn't Bill Smugs/Cunningham the boyfriend of the kids' mother in the Mystery books? Perhaps I remember wrongly. Help? He was the "gentleman friend" of the children's mother in the Adventure books. Friend, and later on, husban...

Yes, one vote from me for esperanto, a language I use probably about half the time at home. I'm not aware though, that any of EB's books have been translated into esperanto. I'll keep a look-out!

Anita, Moonraker - I'm afraid I must agree with you :( I prefer to think of the series stopping at number 14 - Banshee Towers is just not up to scratch, unfortunately. As you say, everything has changed, and the whole 'Find Outers' atmosphere so lovingly built up in the other books in the series is ...

Not read this for a while, but I remember it being the shortest of the 'Find Outers' books. Is that right? I loved the introduction of Fatty's latest talent - ventriloquism. Sure, it's not very realistically done - ventriloquism just doesn't work like that - but it's all good fun and hey, this is a ...

EB's daughters sold the copyright?

That explains a lot.

Why? In God's name, why?

I wonder how much feedback Enid got from her readers? Could it be that she always planned to have Larry as the head of the Find-Outers (being the eldest) throughout the series, but positive feedback about Fatty encouraged her to give him a much more starring role later on? This seems quite likely to...

If I may put in a word in favour of Five Go Adventuring Again (which I believe was the original topic of this thread before it got hijacked!), this has always been one of my favourite FFs. Seems I'm in a minority, but I think it's because this was the first one I read by myself . I remember having F...

Hi Viv!

I'm afraid it's just a translation of the titles. Although thousands of books have been translated into Esperanto, I'm not aware that any of EB's books have yet received that dubious honour! Shame, really.

If you want any more series titles translated, please let me know!

I can't agree with you I'm afraid, Anita. Esperanto has a rich and fascinating culture - it's just a different kind of culture. I have just returned from Florence (Italy) where the World Esperanto Congress was taking place this year. Over 2200 Esperanto speakers took part from 62 different countries...
