'I'll Find My Way Home' (Jon Anderson and Vangelis) was going through my head this morning when I was out on a walk. I find it soothing but uplifting:

The same YouTuber has put up a lovely guitar solo version of Bach's 'Air on the G String':

Good one, Anita. I really like that song and haven't heard it for a while. 8) The Bach for guitar is lovely too!

"I'll find my way home" is my favourite Vangelis song besides "Chariots of fire". This doesn't have to say much though, because I don't know that many songs by Vangelis.

I know it's a bit early for Christmas still, but this version of Carol of the Bells (by the boys' choir Libera) has just been raising the hairs on my spine...

I recently heard someone play Carol of the Bells on a guitar. I thought that was pretty amazing. I don't know if this is something just that guitarist did, or if it is common to play Carol of the Bells on a guitar.

I left YouTube running while I was busy with something and it came up with a couple of gems by Lorrie Morgan - 'Something in Red' and 'I Guess You Had to Be There'. I hadn't heard the singer or the songs before and it was lovely to discover them. Haunting melodies and poignant lyrics:

'Something in Red':

Today, November 14th 2017 is the 65th anniversary of the UK Singles Charts.

So here's the very first Number One, 'Here In My Heart' by Al Martino.

Here is the first UK chart from 14th November 1952,
which was published in the ‘New Musical Express’:

TITLE and ARTIST
1 Here In My Heart by Al Martino
2 You Belong To Me by Jo Stafford
3 Somewhere Along The Way by Nat King Cole
4 Isle Of Innisfree by Bing Crosby
5 Feet Up by Guy Mitchell
6 Half As Much by Rosemary Clooney
7 Forget Me Not by Vera Lynn
7 High Noon by Frankie Laine
8 Sugarbush by Doris Day and Frankie Laine
8 Blue Tango by Ray Martin
9 Homing Waltz by Vera Lynn
10 Auf Wiedersehen by Vera Lynn
11 Because You're Mine by Mario Lanza
11 Cowpuncher's Cantata by Max Bygraves
12 Walking My Baby Back Home by Johnnie Ray

Interestingly there were 15 records listed in the ‘Top 12’.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

Interesting to see that first chart. In those days they had some records tied for the same position.

The Silhouettes - Get a Job

https://www.dropshots.com/Domino43/date ... 0/22:50:30" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This group all came from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were originally formed as a gospel group called The Gospel Tornados in 1955. They changed their name to The Thunderbirds in 1956 and, when they recorded this song in late 1957, changed it again to The Silhouettes. This was their only hit.
