When I bought a used Five from the 'bay,
My jaw dropped...oh dear, what could I say?
The dust jacket was wrong

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

And another:

When poor Ern tripped over a log,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

When poor Ern tripped over a log,
He fell upon Bingo the dog.
The dog gave a whine,

When poor Ern tripped over a log,
He fell upon Bingo the dog.
The dog gave a whine,
From pain in his spine,
So Ern gave him a saucer of grog.

Good ending, John.

Here's a new one:

A clever young lad named Tony,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

A clever young lad named Tony,
Could soon see through anything phoney,
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

(E. Blyton, Sunday Times, 1951)

A clever young lad named Tony,
Could soon see through anything phoney,
With just a quick look,
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

A clever young lad named Tony,
Could soon see through anything phoney,
With just a quick look,
Through any old book,
He could soon tell if it was baloney. :D
