Website Suggestions
Moved from 'enidblytonsociety.co.uk' to 'Questions, Comments and Suggestions'.
In the description for this particular forum it says, "All feedback and suggestions appreciated", but I realised that there does not seem to be any thread specifically for suggestions. Therefore, I made one.
To start, I have a general suggestion to make the reading of the forum topics easier.
For each forum there should be a button which opens all unread topics, so that if you want to read all, you do not have to open them separately. I think this would be very useful indeed.

Re: Website Suggestions
There is an unread topics box, Farwa. There is Unread, Unanswered, New Posts and Active Post. All on the Board Index page.

Re: Website Suggestions
Also, I would think that this section is for suggestions regarding content and articles etc, rather than technical suggestions; I think the Comments, Suggestions forum in General Information would be more for technical things?
The topic has now been moved to 'Questions, Comments and Suggestions'.

Re: Website Suggestions
I know that, Julie, but that is for all topics. I mean a more specified button for each forum, e.g. "Games" or "Books". Someone may only want to check these, but in the "Unread topics" he/she will also find topics from other forums.Julie2owlsdene wrote:There is an unread topics box, Farwa.

Re: Website Suggestions
All I do to find unread topics in a specific forum is to go to that forum — the threads with posts I haven't read yet are always at the top of the list, with the little icon to the left of the thread title lit up in gold.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Website Suggestions
It is not to find unread topics, Courtenay. It is to instantly open all topics in a forum. It may not be much of a problem when there are just one or two topics to check, but if you have not looked in the forums for a long time, and you really want to check every single topic, it can be a bit of a problem. It would be quite simple to put a button to do this, and anyone who still wants to open his/her topics one at a time can do so by all means.

All I do Farwa is press Active Topics and the list is huge! I don't really see any other way around it.

Re: Website Suggestions
I'm afraid I'm lost! Why would you want to open multiple topics at once? Surely you can only read one at a time?
I use the same method as Courtenay. If I visit the forums but don't have time to read all the threads which have had new posts, the ones I haven't yet read will still be lit up in gold on my next visit.

Re: Website Suggestions
It saves time for one thing, Anita, and if you just want to skim each topic and go to the next before referring to a previous one again, I think it is useful; especially if there are 10 new topics you just want to brush over quickly. I'm not saying you can not get along without it, I'm saying it would make things easier.
The "Active Topics" list is for viewing all topics, not opening them, Julie.Julie2owlsdene wrote:All I do Farwa is press Active Topics and the list is huge! I don't really see any other way around it.

Re: Website Suggestions
I don't know that the forums are even capable of such a feature. Not to mention the huge impact opening multiple tabs all at once could have on the user's browser. I tend to look at the new posts page, and as I go down I open each one I'm interested in in a new tab, then go through them.
I really wouldn't want to open ALL new topics (even from a single area) because then I'd no doubt have a bunch of threads I wasn't even interested in.

And here's another! I can't follow the request at all. Mind you I haven't stayed away for months on end either. Not that doing so would make the issue any clearer, I think.

Not a clue here either. I'll just stick to my tried and trusted method of browsing the forums.
