A Question about PMs...

Post by Poppy »

Sorry to make a whole new thread about it - but a little question for the administrators: I was just wondering , why is there a limit to how many PM's we post? Due to the new blog being created and me writing for it I have been sending PM's quite a lot to people. Is there a way of getting round this do you think?

Thanks, Poppy. :D

You can always delete some of the old ones and that will free up space.

Well done LS, I was stuck on "there's a limit on sending PMS?".

Yes you can only hold 50 PMS in your inbox, but you can create a new folder and move up to 50 messages to it. Or just delete any old or unimportant ones.

Yeah that's what I do. Me and Abi and Icey used to PM a lot, and in one day, my folder was full. :D I don't know how I PM'd 50 times! Anyways, I could still send out PM's, so I sent one to Abi and Icey saying that my folder was full and don't reply. But they did anyway. So I saw the message, folder full, no space for new PM's. So then I think on the General Natter somewhere Icey or Abi told me I could delete PM's. So I looked around in the figured out where to delete it from so that's what I do now.

Here's how to delete it:

Go to the bottom right corner of the folder, then you'll see Mark/Unmark as important written in the box. Change it to Delete Marked, then mark whichever messages you want to delete, and then go back to the bottom right corner, and press go. Then say yes in the next one. Voila! Done!

Yes it is!
I've just halved my 'sent' messages and halved it again!

It is much lighter now!

Which begs the question, why don't you email one another?

No difference to us. We don't give our personal ID's, so why do it if we can just PM.

Yes, of course you shouldn't give out personal details unless you are sure the person is bona fide. Happily, I only correspond with people I trust. However, you can safely email via the website, just click on the email link (envelope symbol) under the avatar. :D

I know!! :D But why do that when we can PM?? You see if you have any new PM's as soon as you log in, so it's more convenient!!

Maybe it is an added feature for people who check their email inboxes frequently, but don't look in at the forums on an hourly basis. We're not all as frequent a visitor as you or Poppy! In my case I agree with you, which is why I have disabled the email link under my avatar.

As a male and one who identifies with Julian, I find all this discussion about PMS rather disconcerting.

Not PMS PMs, as in the plural of PM - Private Message.
