Why does it keep on logging me out in the middle of my session?

Now I know! IE set itself to delete Macaroons —sorry, cookies after each session!
Aha!

I've put the suspicious things in bold.
How can guests view User Control Panel?
   :?: :?:

I assume guests will still see the UCP button and click on it though I'm not sure what they'll see. Either it will tell them they need to ge logged in or they can perhaps view a limited UCP so that they can access option such as the profanity filter?

Either way, is it important? You seem to spend more time questioning the working of the forum than taking part in any Blyton related discussions.

I didn't think that a 'guest' could actually view the User Control Panel, and check out someones profile! :?

I thought you had to log in for that kind of information.

I seem to recall a post where the persons username was "guest" , followed by another post saying that this had happened before (to the person posting) and that it was in fact, I think, Katherine.
With my memory for names I should make it clear that I only think that it was Katherine.(Or to put it slightly differently apologies in advance, if needed).
It is probably several years since some of you read the Society's site without being registered - if it's any comfort I was on several occasions " told" to log in or register to access links that I'd clicked on before I registered. The system appears to be set up to look after itself and therefore its members pretty well.

Only one forums section ("Letters from Children") now accepts posts from guests, and it was in that section that Katharine made her post. Other than that, I assume Fiona is right and that the guests are trying to access certain parts of the forums only to get a message saying that they must register/log in to proceed. I don't think guests can see the "User Control Panel" link, but perhaps another link tries to take them to it but can't.

Before I login I can't see the UCP link either. Maybe they manually type ucp.php after the URL and see the "You have to be logged in to view the User Control Panel" screen. Also, I noticed they stayed there for 10 minutes or so, so maybe they went off to get a cuppa.

I've been trying to replicate this... but I can't. I'm logged in on one browser and browsing as a guest on another, but none of the pages I've looked at as a guest have shown as UCP on the who's online page. If you hit reply as a guest it asks you to log in, but that's recorded as "reply to thread in..." on the who's online.

Funny you should mention this but I've just been logged out mid post, or did I hit the back button?
