As important as having a good selection of emoticons is, one has to careful about people using them to annoy others going by my experiences elsewhere on the Admin. side of a forum.

They should be used like salt, sparingly.

I think Keith once said that only the 22 smilies over on the right (visible when you're posting) come with the forums by default. If you want any others you need to visit a smilies website yourself - but beware, because some apparently contain viruses. And as Joanne_Chan and Nigel said, smilies are best used sparingly. Otherwise they lose their impact and become irritating.

If you hover over the smilie it tells you what it means. Most of yours are wrong. Should be Very Happy (not Happy), Smile (not forced smile), you've got surprised and shocked the wrong way round...
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

That's all very well Abi, but if you use them "as you imagine them to be" you will probably give the wrong impression.

I've never understood what "Mr. Green" is for. Does it mean "jealous"? Or "grinning"? Or what?
