Like I said i didn't want to offend. I will even get an avatar if i can work out how to do it.
I took some nice pics of Viv's signs in Dorset so maybe i could adapt one of those.

But I still think the sigs distract from the threads. Sites that restrict them or don't have them at all seem to be cleaner somehow. Check out digital spy for an example. Actually in their book section we have quite a good Blyton thread going fanned by me. There are lots of Blyton afficionados out there.

And no Ming. It wasn't your giant Kiki in particular honest :D

Very wise, hobbes. He who crosses Ming, lives to regret it has always been my motto.

Personally, I admit to being childish, As Mollybob (I think) said, or implied, it's pretty childish to be reading The Faraway Tree in your fifties!

Anyway, must go - Balamory is on CBeebies! Image

Personally, I'd love to come and see you make a fool of yourself! If Officer Summerfield is up for it, we'll bring him along as well! Let us know when it is, and we'll see what we can do. Image

Lesson learnt Moonraker. :)

Now how long are you going to quote me on your sig!!

Just to remind me of my presumtiveness I guess and well deserved although I have been a society member for quite a long time and have been lurking on here for over a year so i am not a total new boy :D

Oh, not long I should think. There will soon be something else to tickle my fancy! Consider it an honour to be amongst the world's greatest quotes! :D

Anita Bensoussane wrote: Does anyone else take a look at the "quick links" to posts on the Home Page of the site, before entering the Forums proper? I ask that because I find it fun to try to guess the identity of the posters from the first few words of the posts. Often, it's surprisingly easy to make an accurate guess. Does anyone else do that?

Anita
Yes. I usually enter the site via a topic identification email in my inbox (I usually open up emial first when I switch on my laptop at home). Once I've checked the most interesting topic notifications, I then click on 'home' and read any 'irresistable' messages before clicking on 'forums' - perhaps scrolling down to see who is online, and then click on 'view new posts' - to check whether I've missed anything (much more likely these days with the increase in email traffic).

If I'm at work I click on Favourites, which take me to the home page. Then I proceed as above ie. clicking on the quick links and so on.

Shall I kill off poor dancing Hobbes then.

Crikey and it took me ages to size him properly!

I can see hobbes’ point of view: I must admit that at one time I also wasn’t a big fan of signatures, as they seemed to get in the way of the posts. But I soon got used to them, and don’t mind them at all now. I even have one myself!
I’ve never had a problem with avatars though.
At least, not until now...
