Wow! Now I feel like a slob. I only go every 3 months to get my hair dyed and to have a hair cut (but I'm not working, so I don't have to worry about dark roots growing visible).Katharine wrote:What is BB? And only going to the hairdressers once a month? I try and eek it out as long as possible between visits, don't even think about booking an appointment until at least 6 weeks after the last visit.
Is that another term for flight attendant/stewardess?floragord wrote:I trained and worked as an air hostess shortly after leaving school...
Carlotta King wrote:Yes, I do agree that the time is a pain, what a pity we can't just slap it on it 2 minutes! The Maybellinne one is the best one I've tested but I couldn't afford to buy it so I bought a cheaper one instead.
Or me !Carlotta King wrote:PS - Apologies for de-railing this thread with talk of make-up etc, whenever something goes off-topic it's always me that's found to be at the bottom of it!
Cathy, I just lost my message that I was about to send to you.Carlotta King wrote: And I love using a primer on my skin when I do my make-up to go out, it moisturises and smoothes your skin and gives it an amazing sort of soft feel, if you've never tried one I heartily recommend it!

Chrissie, if it makes you feel nice wearing your make-up then I don't think it's a waste of time or a lot of time on your looks - it's time well-spent because you feel good.
I don't see an alternative either - I am definitely going to be an ageing hippie lady, still wearing long hair and kohl eyeliner in my 60s and 70s!
I had cancer in 2009 and see things the same way, Julie!Julie2owlsdene wrote:LIfe if short enough and one should enjoy it as much as possible. That's something that getting cancer makes you realize. I wear and dress how I like, regardless of others thoughts!
I have no choice with rosacea, I have to wear concealer and on top some make up, otherwise I would walk around with a red face all the time.Anita Bensoussane wrote: My skin disease and allergies prevent me wearing any make-up at all, but if I had the choice I'd wear a little bit just to give my face some extra colour.
I wonder if BB is a tinted moisturizer maybe?floragord wrote:I use BB most days and lipstick every day!, but only go to the hairdresser once a month so significant reduction from earlier times
I can't color my hair by myself, it's too dark and has too many red pigments. It has to be dyed by a professional. If I wouldn't dye my hair, it would be dark brown which is such a harsh contrast to my fair skin.Carlotta King wrote: Wow that sounds like a fantastic experience! I've always loved the image of the retro air hostess look, there's something so glamourous and feminine about it!
I've been colouring my own since I was about 16 so there's not much I don't know about it!
Same here, Katherine, even though I don't have to put on make up more than once a week right now as long as André works abroad, I never seem to have enough time to read. Every day something unexpected comes along and steals all my timeKatharine wrote: Daisy, I like your comment. Although even with my lack of time spent on my appearance - there still don't seem to be enough hours in the day to read as much as I'd like.
Sounds great!Carlotta King wrote: I'll start a 'Beauty' thread in the General Natter so if any of us ladies want to talk about this kind of thing we can do it there rather than spoiling the EB Day thread!
