You might discover it's not as empty as you thought... :)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Exbury would be a lovely place for a meet-up! It's quite a trek for me but I'd try to manage it.

It's a long hike for me, too, whereas Old Thatch would have been manageable if only I'd been free that day. :( Still, you never know. I'd like an excuse to visit the New Forest, definitely.

It would depend on when a meeting was arranged for. We have friends in Southampton, so I might be able to persuade my husband to drive me down, if we could combine the trip with seeing them as well. It's a 4 hour journey each way from here on a Saturday, and for some reason, a 5 hour trip each way on a Sunday by train, so that's not really an option for me.

Wow! Now I feel like a slob. I only go every 3 months to get my hair dyed and to have a hair cut (but I'm not working, so I don't have to worry about dark roots growing visible).
In-between I cut my bangs myself once a month.
I was wondering too what BB might be?
Is it the cosmetic company Bobbie Brown which is quite famous over here?

Carlotta King wrote:Yes, I do agree that the time is a pain, what a pity we can't just slap it on it 2 minutes! The Maybellinne one is the best one I've tested but I couldn't afford to buy it so I bought a cheaper one instead. :)

Wouldn't it be nice if they finally would develop some kind of a machine with an opening where we just hold our face inside for a moment, make up gets applied evenly and we are done after a minute or two? :)
And at night it gently removes our make up again without causing redness or irritations...

Maybelline is one of the cheapest cosmetic companies over here. They sell it at Wal*Mart. I wonder if they sell their stuff for twice the price in the UK?
I remember many years ago when I still lived in Germany and went every year to France on vacation (and stopped in Paris for several days to do shopping) that there was a huge price difference between the Lancôme products that I bought in Germany and the same products bought in Paris. So I always bought a one year supply in Paris and saved lots of money that way.

Chrissie, if it makes you feel nice wearing your make-up then I don't think it's a waste of time or a lot of time on your looks - it's time well-spent because you feel good. :)
I don't see an alternative either - I am definitely going to be an ageing hippie lady, still wearing long hair and kohl eyeliner in my 60s and 70s! :D
Cathy, I just lost my message that I was about to send to you.
I use a very good primer which costs only $ 30 in the US and 18 £ in the UK which seems a decent price:

I still use the same sample for special occasions only, got it last year in Las Vegas and really love the feel of it on my skin. I just checked and can order it online in the US.

Yes, I plan on dying my hair for at least another 20 years and then become silvery white (not grey!). Will try to be as attractive as I can as long as I can for my handsome husband...

Anita Bensoussane wrote: My skin disease and allergies prevent me wearing any make-up at all, but if I had the choice I'd wear a little bit just to give my face some extra colour.
I have no choice with rosacea, I have to wear concealer and on top some make up, otherwise I would walk around with a red face all the time.
But I'm always afraid of another make up allergy!

Couldn't afford hairdresser once a month. It's $ 110 with tip each time.

Carlotta King wrote: Wow that sounds like a fantastic experience! I've always loved the image of the retro air hostess look, there's something so glamourous and feminine about it! :)
I've been colouring my own since I was about 16 so there's not much I don't know about it! ;)
I can't color my hair by myself, it's too dark and has too many red pigments. It has to be dyed by a professional. If I wouldn't dye my hair, it would be dark brown which is such a harsh contrast to my fair skin.

Did you ever watch this cute movie:

Same here, Katherine, even though I don't have to put on make up more than once a week right now as long as André works abroad, I never seem to have enough time to read. Every day something unexpected comes along and steals all my time :(
