Eddie, your words as well as Daisy's and Fiona's in God's ear!!!
We'll keep our fingers crossed, too.

Hopefully the next EB Day would take place before the 14th of May 2014, because on the 15th we'll have to fly back to the US. So we could fly to London, rent a car and drive up to Loddon (sp?) Hall. And then fly from London back to Boston, but we need to make flight & hotel & rental car reservations for Sweden and Channel Islands early next year (around mid February).
So in case a date would be set by mid February 2014, we could still arrange/plan our vacation around the EB Day. I wouldn't want to miss it and wish, we could have participated in May 2008 when my husband was still in Uxbridge, UK.

Maybe Chrissy should be organising the next EB day! She's already planning next year's holiday afterall!
"You're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day!" Hunchy said going to the door
"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

Hi Pippa-Stef,

I would offer to participate organising some if I would live in the UK, but doubt I could manage what Tony Summerfield accomplished year after year.
BTW I always plan my vacation at least one year ahead in order to get the flights we want and the rooms we want. I hate doing so-called last minute trips.
The planning is the second best with the vacation being the best :).

Looking at the calendar for May next year, the Saturdays are the 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. I'd imagine based on previous years that the 10th would be the preferred day, though if Loddon hall's not available it'd likely be the 17th.

Sheer speculation I know, but they do say you must speculate to accumulate and I do want to accumulate EB Day attendances
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I can hear the creaking of bones as poor Tony's arm is being twisted behind his back.

Regarding the date for previous EB days, hasn't it always been the same weekend that Old Thatch opens for visitors, or was it just a coincidence last year?

In that case I vote for the 17th of May as the 10th of May is too early and would force us to fly to Sweden in April already.

Perhaps we can rally round and provide some kind of 'event' on May the 17th - I am sure we would all love to meet Chrissie!

That's a really good idea Francis. If another official Enid Blyton day isn't possible, maybe some of us could arrange to meet somewhere such as Old Thatch. I know it's a whole year away, but maybe those interested could pencil the date in?

Hi Katharine,

It would be really really cool if we could do a guided tour by Green Hedges through Coldmoorholm Lane and Bourne End to see all the places mentioned in the FFO & Dog books that inspired Enid Blyton. And of course visit Old Thatch which we only saw through the high hedge/fence in 2008. Unfortunately it was not open.

I'd love to do 'Old Thatch' with you all - I haven't been there yet. Not sure that Izzy thinks I'm a sweetheart - she has called me plenty of things but never that!

I'm always up for a meet up, whether it be an E.B. Day or just an organized outing.

Fraid you wouldn't get me out of Britain, Ming. I don't fly or go abroad!

I think you were extremely brave and courage to take the trip you did on visiting the Enid Blyton Day, when you were younger.

Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.
"See that? It's the black Bentley again. KMF 102!"

Julie, I suppose you won't be in the "attending guests" list then, when I get married, I don't know, in ten years!!

Germany would be a lovely place for an outing.
