Was anything ever finalised about the possibility of a DVD of the day to purchase for those who cannot make it there in person?
Regards
Pete

Someone once asked about that on the Message Board and, as Barney pointed out, there are reasons why the idea of producing a DVD hasn't really been considered feasible up to now. There is already a lot of work involved in organising the Enid Blyton Day, practically all of it done by Tony, and bringing out a DVD would add to the workload as it would mean having the necessary equipment, finding someone willing to do the filming, getting permission from the speakers (there might also be copyright issues regarding any film or audio clips shown), being able to guarantee reasonably good sound and picture quality, working out the costing, dealing with orders... Plenty to think about, as you can see!

The last I heard was that Tony was taking lessons at the local tec in the art of movie making. I'm not sure how proficient he has become though. He did think that as his work was done by the Day, he would have ample time for filming the occassion. He can only afford an old standard 8 ciné camera with a hand winder, so maybe Petermax would be able to make a DVD out of the finished product?

I was just thinking, even a brief overview posted on youtube, with comments from those attending and a tour of the books and stalls on offer would still be great to see by those all over the world who can only be there 'in spirit'!

Maybe at the end of a brief overview posted on youtube it could give details of how to purchase the 'official dvd' if such a disc was to be made available??

Pete

ps.fantastic avatar moonraker, its like the leap from black and white to colour in the wizard of Oz,compared to your old one!! :)

Standard 8? Not the two spools that had to be swapped halfway through filming? Oh the nostalgia!

It is a very artistic picture, but as Nigel said to me this morning when he came round for a visit, it looks a bit like someone 'relieving' himself!

I'm not sure as I can say, it's probably encroaching copyright!

There are two avatars that really make me cringe, you'll have to guess whose the other one belongs to!

Are your avators from 'Father Ted, Pete? I've never watched it, thankfully. If it's the 'dog collar' you like, what about one of the doggies from Blyton's books.

Thanks Julie, but the main problem has been my inability to resize ANY avatar to fit the required size, which I have now managed to rectify!

The world of avatars is now my oyster!(just need to learn how to upload images now!)

In uploading my new blue peter avatar I couldnt help wondering to myself WHICH BADGE CARRIES THE MOST CACHET? a famous five badge,or a blue peter badge,or would it be a draw!!
Regards
Pete
ps surely even this avatar wont offend you Moonraker??
