Journal 63

Post by Rob Houghton »

A nice summer treat, which I believe is being printed as we speak - looks good enough to eat as always. :-)

http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/jour ... isissue=63

What a great cover, from The Twelfth Holiday Book - and some tasty things inside. I'll be very interested to read Anita's take on 'The Mystery That Never Was' - as it was a book I came late to (as a child aged 13) and never enjoyed. I've since reread it and still find it lacking. Maybe Anita will persuade me otherwise!

Also looking forward to the articles about Susie by Julie and about Miss Pepper by John Pickup - great to hear what people think of various characters!

I also like the sound of Enid's short story - 'Prince Furious and the Spanking Slippers' - great title!!

Anne Kirrin's Diary returns - which I know many will be glad about - including me - and so many other articles - it really does seem cram-packed!
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

(E. Blyton, Sunday Times, 1951)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Varied, intriguing-sounding articles and stories as always - and the cover looks great! Can't wait for it to arrive!

I've started journal 62, as I am a bit behind. I left a gap between reading 61 and 62 to spread them out as bit.
By the time I get the summer journal it will almost be summer here, so at least the season will be more in sync than usual!

My journal has arrived. I shall have to put off the luxury of reading it for some hours though.. It looks very good.
