Well said Daisy. I thoroughly agree too. I'm still enjoying the Journal, just the From My Window column and the Mr Wumble story to go. Thank you Tony for a brilliant Journal and for posting the photo.

So how many (UK residents) would agree to subscriptions going up to £15 a year? I certainly would. I think we seriously need to do this - whatever Tony says, lol! 8)

The Journal is now twice as big as it was back in the early 2000's with double the amount of pages, and yet we still pay the same price!

That's an excellent idea, Rob. 8)
I suggested the same last year and probably the year before regarding the worldwide subscription price and noticed that Tony finally raised it (good decision!) when we paid for 2017 via PayPal on Sunday.

I'd be fine with that. The problem though, as Tony has pointed out in the past, is that we here are only a very small number of the subscribers. Most of the Society do not post here and so it is impossible for us to know how they would react to a price increase. One is definitely long overdue though.

Well, Tony could explain the raise in price in the next EBS Journal for those who don't post here.

I agree that there are many more subscribers to The Journal than just us who post on here, but even so, most club/society fees just go up without anyone being consulted! I just wondered how many members on here would agree to it. £15 for a whole year is nothing. I pay that anyway! :D

Then they might all refuse to resubscribe.

Some people can get rather annoyed about price increases. The problem is that there is no way of telling how many people outside of the forums would mind about an increase. Most of us here would not but that may not apply in the wider society. Only Tony is really in a position to judge that and I vaguely remember him saying something like this on here somewhere.

I must have missed Tony's comment.
About what amount are we actually talking here? A raise of 5 £ or more?
I can only repeat my old argument/point from last year: before I would give up my beloved EBS Journal, I would rather skip going out for dinner once. That takes care of it.
But maybe other subscribers do consider dinner in a restaurant more important than receiving such a beautiful journal 3 times per year?

What I dislike are raises without an explanation. As long as the raise is well explained and makes sense to me, I can live with it and I really don't mind. That's why I suggested to also explain the reason for the raised subscription price inside the coming March journal/editorial.

There is no reason why anyone should not pay over the odds if they so desire, as Rob has indicated. Even a small extra amount would, I'm sure, help to balance the books!
