It is annoying that postal services vary so much but I always get a feeling of "O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" on receiving a new Journal. What a fantastic issue this is with its bright and jolly Dorothy Wheeler cover and a wide range of articles on the Contents Page all calling out to be read. A real feast for the weekend and beyond - thanks, Tony!
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

I need to shut myself away to savour this marvellous publication. Not for me a quick cuppa and a skim through! It arrived safely this morning.

Hooray, mine's arrived too! What a beautiful cover. :D I don't have time to read it thoroughly today, but have already dipped into and enjoyed a few articles. Many thanks to Tony for what promises to be another fantastic issue!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Oh believe me Nigel... a cup of tea can last at least two articles!

Great! I've just arrived home to find my copy of the Journal in my letter box. I know it's going to be another superb edition before I even open it. My subscription renewal will be in the post later today. Many thanks Tony and thanks to all the contributors. :D

Mine arrived as well today. I took a quick look at two articles I'm interested in, and I'm happy to know now, that I'm not the only one who thinks "The Wood of adventure" is a good film :-).

Mine finally arrived about 12:15 - just as I was going out! I had a quick skim-through but had to leave it as I was going to the theatre (to see Brigadoon). Looking forward to a good read tomorrow! :-)

I arrived back home late yesterday to find the Journal on the doormat together with the latest issue of the English Heritage magazine, so I have lots of reading in store (the Journal comes first of course). With guests coming today I won't have time to read it but I shall start on Monday. I will renew my subscription then too. Thanks Tony, another excellent publication.

Luckily I was out for tea with my parents last night and my mum thought to bring my journal as I apparently forgot to inform Tony of my new address!

"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Mine arrived today, thankfully, so I can get stuck into it this afternoon with a cuppa and a cream doughnut. :D

I have only had a chance to read The DVDs of Adventure article by John Henstock so far. It has several spoilers but is a very fair appraisal of that series. The overall response of, "initially jarring before becoming enjoyable" corresponds with my own feelings about the adaptations.

I would also give a thumbs up to the Adventure Series as well, but sadly the Secret Series is not in the same league. I haven't even bought the Secret DVDs yet although I do have them all as videos which were sent to me by Cloud 9 just before the series was first released.

My only reservation about the Adventure Series is that I found one or two of the intended 'comic' scenes with some of the baddies as fairly cringe-worthy, but I guess that I don't fit into the intended viewing age group!
