I think one of the main problems of Summer Storm is that it wouldn't have been very practical to stage as it has so many changes of scene in it. I imagine that any prospective producer reading it would have shuddered at how difficult it would have been to put it on the stage. This gives you some idea:-

Act 2 would be a nightmare and Act 3 wouldn't be much easier!

Very interesting, thanks for posting that Tony. And I didn't get the password right (I never have yet) I thought it would be page 5.

Maybe they could make a TV/film version instead? Anyone got a few million to invest?

I got the journal, I got the journal, I GOT THE JOURNAL!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I'm so happy I've read most it is soooo cool, I loved Poppy's article, and Katharine's was very amusing!! I liked the christmassy cover too and I agree on Robert Houghton's views about 'Those Dreadful Children' completely. The 17 Pounds was well worth it and I'm waaaaaaaay happy! By the way, is the handwriting with my name on it on the envelope Tony's or something? Because if so, I'm gonna keep it as the handwriting of a person I've never met. :D

Yes, I also like that personal touch of the handwritten envelope.

I also enjoyed Robert's article. I would never have thought that one book could take up 4 articles, but he is going in depth and making some interesting points about how Enid portrays the 2 families and how the reader takes to them.
There’s a funny typo at the beginning which makes it sound like the families are about to have a duel!

No, in this context I would say it was meant to be ‘dual’.

The “Interesting Ephemera” verses reminded me of Frank Richards who wove a strong anti-gambling theme into many of his Bunter stories. The Wapshot races come to mind - I think that is a fictional race course. He is said to have a bit of a weakness himself for a gamble so I guess he wrote from experience.

Thanks very much for that, Lenoir. I've just saved the updated index to my computer. I'm in the process of writing my next Journal article and I want to re-read a couple of articles from old Journals to see what others have said on the topic, so your index will help me find the relevant pieces easily. :D

Hi
your index sounds interesting, but I don't really understand how it works, I mean the numbers:
for example:
Bill’s Diary 42:44, 44:72, 45:31, 46:45
Can you explain how the numbers work?
Thanks

I assume they mean journal:page, so Bill's diary appears in journal 42 on page 44 and so on.

Thanks Lenoir, I've made a copy of your index. I'll find it very useful as I often want to refer back to something I know I've read once upon a time, but not sure exactly when or where.

I was also thrilled to see my name listed under the author section. I feel 'famous' all over again. :D

Dinah, I think the numbers work as follows:-

Bill's Diary 42:44, 45:72 = an article by that name is in Journal 42, page 44, with another one in Journal 45, page 72 .

Thanks Katherine, I understand better now
