I came back from my hols in Wales yesterday to find the Journal waiting for me. I decided to postpone the unpacking and read Tony's editorial, Anita's review of the last EB Day and of course John Lester's 'Adventures in Wales', later I managed to read the rest of the first half of the Journal, excellent articles all. This morning I really must knuckle down and finish the unpacking, do the washing and remove the layer of dust over the furniture, but this afternoon as summer seems to have arrived at last, I shall retire to the garden with a long cool drink and read the second half. It is good to be home.

I loved Anita's article about Mr. Twiddle and had to stifle my laughter a couple of times whilst reading it on the bus!

Only once? I'll have to try harder next time!

AnnaL, I'm glad the Twiddle article amused you even if you did struggle not to laugh out loud in public!

My journal arrived a few days ago actually, but I only opened it today and read the first 2 articles. It was great to read about the Day and to think back to it.
"Those Dreadful Children" is a book with a lot to offer if one goes into it like Robert has in his interesting article which raises many valid points. I think I must read it again sometime.

For those who have been patiently waiting for the next part of Bill's Diary, I have actually loaded it into the Continuation Novels. It is long, so I have had to put it into three parts, but the advantage of putting it here is that it is available for all to read and I haven't had to disturb Keith in order to put it here!

In came the Taggertys. They were clean, except Biddy knees looked like she had been crawling half a mile in some muddy place.

I read the Diary this weekend and as always I enjoyed it very much. Please thank Terry for us!

I'm already looking forward to the next Diary. Will you write it somewhere so that I can find it or should I check the place from time to time?

I read the Diary today, and I really enjoyed it. Terry's pieces are always carefully thought through and researched, and so well written. This was no exception. Thanks Terry! It was a pleasure reading it.

I’m not a big fan of the diary, although I will certainly read it and I have enjoyed his articles over the years. What I really liked was his article on the essence of Blyton. Some good points made, especially referring to the way Enid puts in little incidents to make the characters and story more real and natural, like the one about Perce’s fork and the time Bets answered the phone when Fatty actually asked for Pip.

A great set of articles in the journal. I saved the last one to read tonight or tomorrow.
