I still say, looking at this coloured photo, that it seems curious that someone would go to the trouble of colouring every book spine exactly as they were coloured in real life. For me, this makes it unlikely that the photo was coloured, unless the colourist actually went to Green Hedges and sat in front of the book case to painstakingly colour every spine correctly...?

Well, it might be, er, interesting to hear what he has to say about "the challenges, both administrative and creative, of writing amusing and relevant new books in a series that is seventy five years old"... not that I really want to know. I hope for his sake he doesn't get pelted with too many rotten eggs and tomatoes.

It would cost a lot more than £5 if you add in rail and Tube fares!

I can't believe they are attempting to make a celebrity out of such a poor writer.

But I thought it was wrong to use a famous writer's name, like Enid Blyton? I mean, like copyright and all of that..
I would love to go there and speak my mind to him...

It's not wrong when the company that owns the name has given you permission.

Just found out that Quercus have published another adult Famous Five title - Five Go Down Under:

It's by Sophie Hamley this time instead of Bruno Vincent but, judging by the one review that it has got so far on Amazon, the humour is no better. Amazon reviewer Ausdragon has given it one star out of five, saying:

There's no real storyline here; events are driven purely by a need to connect one tired cliche to another. Five go to Bondi beach so they can meet surfers who talk about throwing a snag on a barbie. Hilarious. Five take a ferry on Sydney Harbour where they see a shark. Rivetting! Five take a drive to the Bush so they can encounter poisonous snakes and spiders. Surprise! What storyline there is ends abruptly and pointlessly. This is just a bunch of words that include several references to things in Australia. Hard to believe a real person wrote this. It could have been generated by a low-grade algorithm.
