I think I have the same Mary Mouse stories on an LP -

If that is the LP that you have, Rob, it is not the same. That is the Tempo one which is completely different to the earlier Phonogram one, as you can see from the listed stories.

Thanks Tony - for some reason I thought the cassette had the same picture on it as my LP...must be getting bad eyesight in my old age!

Was researching this book and as usual The Cave has a detailed description.What a smashing place the Cave really is!

There's a copy on ebay,but I don't know what a fair price for this book would be??

I think 'a fair price' depends on what edition the book is. Supposedly the one on eBay is a first edition - though I'm pretty sure its quite difficult to tell. I have the brer Rabbit one (except mine has a green cover) and I got it with another 3 Old Thatch books for £5 for 4, but they are in quite a grubby condition - and is a 1963 edition!

I didn't even know these were still being printed in this version in 1963!

It looks okay, Pete, but I think it is rather expensive, I would have thought that £10 should be the limit for these books.

I agree - although - you know eBay! Sometimes I've seen them on eBay for up to around £50 each!!

I see there's another 'Brer Rabbit and his friends' Old Thatch book for sale...but that's £23 for the 1937 edition.

This is a bit of a cheat, as I can't find this in the Cave - Enid Blyton's Birthday Book (1959)

I just won a copy on eBay. I know its not a very exciting looking book, and probably only really used the Blyton name - but it was in very good condition.

Is there a reason it isn't featured in The Cave?

Mine cost £19 -- but given that Sue Bell and others charge around £45 for a copy, I guess I had a bargain!

You are right, it is not in the Cave although I did know about it. I tend to class it with the Diaries, which also are not in the Cave (there were probably more than 30 of these!) and nor are any of the various scrapbooks as all these things are really meant for the buyer to either write in or stick things into them.

Yes Pete - its really exactly what it says on the cover - a book to enter people's birthday dates in. I'm presuming its about as big as the ENid Blyton diaries, and as I bought one of the diaries for my collection in January, I couldn't resist getting the birthday book when I saw it for £14 - although it eventually went up to £19. I only bid a top bid of £20 so I was amazed the other bidder didn't go up a pound higher!

It only has two birthdays put in by the previous owner, apparently, and each day has a quote from a poem, and a foreword written by Enid Blyton.
