I had to look up ibid thinking it an error, so, to save you some trouble

Edited to add: I should have caveated the above. I believe there was an annual of "Five on Kirren Island," for the 70s series. Or "Five on Kitten Island" on the odd eBay listing.
Incidentally my phone doesn't like Kirrin either. It thinks that Kirin or Kerrin would be better.

That's the one, Rob! I couldn't remember if it had an 'again' or not.

Re: Errors in books
I'm trying to imagine the fun of Five on Kitten Island Again, if only it really existed. Kirrin Island somehow becomes populated by kittens in plague proportions... one of Quentin's experiments gone awry? Maybe Pete could do a pictorial mash-up for us to illustrate it?? (I'm sure Anne would be gushing over the gorgeous kittens everywhere, George would be disgusted, and Timmy would chase them. )

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I love the idea of Five on kitten Island' - sort of creepy in a way! Maybe they could be like Gremlins - cute to look at, but they eat dogs!!!
Looking at the annual, the letters used do make the 'Kirren' look like 'Kitten' - I never noticed before.

How about one climbing out of the tower of Kirrin Castle? Or the giant paw coming down on Timmy??

I would have thought as a Journal subscriber, you wouldn't have had to look it up.Fiona1986 wrote: I had to look up ibid thinking it an error

Whenever I type Kirrin into a post, a wavy red line appears below the word Kirrin. There, it's done it twice already. Obviously my laptop has never read the Famous Five.

I haven't read the past couple of journals. I take it that's been used lately?Moonraker wrote:I would have thought as a Journal subscriber, you wouldn't have had to look it up.Fiona1986 wrote: I had to look up ibid thinking it an error

Yes Moonraker, and I don't now how or even if it can be corrected. All in all not a good beginning.......Moonraker wrote:Welcome to the forums, Owl@s Dene (is that a text error as the @ is above the apostrophe on the keyboard?). If intentional, humble apologies!
Yes, Enid got into quite a state with names and relationships with the ancestry. The problem is, everyone is called Kirrin! There seems to be confusion as to whether Fanny or Quentin is the sibling of Julian's father (we never get to know his Christian name). The 'other' segment of the family was briefly called Barnyard in one book, the fisherboy started off as James (first edition) then became Alf (ibid) and in later stories reverted to James again.
These errors may be seem to be minor, but have always been a distraction for me.
I will have to look up the meaning of caveated later.
