Either that's a typo, or Rob is joining Stella & Rose in the selling-Blytons-for-mega-quids league...
:(

Yeah - unfortunately its a constant 'typo' on my computer! I think I'm too quick for it when I type! :-(

£10 each! But more likely £20.

A dust jacket edition of 'Noddy and the Tootles' - which almost completes my hardback Noddy Library - I just need 'Noddy and Tessie Bear' now, and then I have them all in various conditions and editions from fair to very good. This one only cost me £2.99. Its an early 1980's edition, with dust wrapper and golliwogs, and not even a name in the 'belongs to' box. :-D

Then I need to start upgrading a few that don't have wrappers...about 8 of them!

People who collect books are never satisfied!!

Hello, everyone! Newly registered and having a ball either reacquainting myself or newly reading/buying (when funds will allow) Enid's books. Lately bought the seven Bumblebee books (thank you very much Sixret for posting about these) and today received a copy of 'Silver & Gold' (from eBay), with a written inscription dated 8th April 1928. It's a lovely book, with surprising rough cut paper to the side and bottom, with silver and gold embossed cover and spine text, which made me smile, all in all not bad for such a low price!

Welcome to the forums!

You pipped me to the post with Silver and Gold. A very good price indeed! I have an earlier edition, but I love the illustrations in that later edition. I bid on it but lost out at the last minute! ;-)

Oh, I'm so sorry, Rob, I had no idea I'd bid against a fellow member!

Thank you very much for the very warm welcome from yourself and from Courtenay!

1976 edition Betty Maxey external & internals.£2.80 delivered - pristine condition.

Has proved quite elusive - bought one earlier after checking it had genuine Maxey internals with seller and Soper's internals arrived,
The seller said I could keep Soper's internals as they would too much of a faff to return ...

Well today I received this:

1987 Knight, illustrations by Betty Maxey, cover by Andrew Lloyd-Jones

You can imagine how upset and saddened I was - no offence to Andrew Lloyd-Jones. Some may even prefer him much more than Maxey, but he's not what I ordered.

I quickly emailed the seller and got a fairly decent response. But it still leaves me needing the Betty Maxey internal & externals in the 1976 edition I originally ordered.

I
Dear Pete,

Thank you for your email and order.

Please accept my apologies for the error. We use eBay's ISBN database to correctly locate and describe our items in our inventory as it is so large it is not possible to index each item individually. This process has obviously led to a discrepancy in this case which we are keen to resolve.

As a result, a full refund has been issued to your account including postage and packaging since we do not seem to have a correct copy in stock at the moment. You should see the refund on your original method of payment within 7 days. Please keep the item rather than returning it to us.
I'm grateful for their customer response of course - but this is the third time I've ordered this book from ebay and received the wrong edition from different sellers - even after confirming before purchase it's the correct edition!

Gosh, some of these sellers are a menace! :( I don't mind the ones that are open about the fact that they use stock photos — they're fine if you're not bothered about getting a specific edition — but I agree it is incredibly annoying if you do ask for a particular edition, are assured that's what it is, and then it's not. Glad you got your money back from them, anyway, Pete, and with such a courteous response.

And at least you did finally get Betty's internals AND externals just as you wanted...
