I wonder who bought The Yellow Fairy Book'? I bumped the price up to about £110.00 but then let it go. It eventually sold for £122.00 8)

That's actually not too bad, considering it's a pretty rare item and in good condition. I might consider paying that for it if I really wanted it and if I wasn't trying to be careful with my money at the moment. Not as eye-watering, certainly, as the price of a first edition of Adventures of the Wishing-Chair (the only edition to feature absolutely all the original chapters, as we know) which is currently going on eBay for £495.00 — and even that's fairly low compared to some of the insane prices that come up sometimes even for books that aren't genuine rarities!!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Yes - £122 isn't really too bad for such a rare book that even had a dust wrapper. I could have bid a little more, but had just bought a dust wrapper copy of The Secret of Kilimooin (though that only cost £10.00! and so thought I'd give up on The Yellow Fairy Book - particularly as I've just read The Queer Adventure and so wouldn't have read it for a while. ;-)

IFrom World of Rare Books, right? I saved it at night so that I could post it here in the morning. But I saw it ended in the morning. Glad to know that you are the one who have bought it. :D

Yes - that's the one! It wasn't a bad wrapper - and the price was very good. I am slowly replacing my collection of non-dust jacket Secret books with ones in wrappers - already have Moon Castle, Secret Mountain and now Kilimooin...just have the two most difficult books to find in wrappers now! I'm sure I'll never find The Secret Island in a dust wrapper! ;-)

I have seen Spiggy Holes with dust jacket for £12.33 from World of Rare Books.

I bought Secret Island with dj from the list given by the seller.

Not me, I wanted it and would have tried to get it if it wasn't for the fact I'd just paid £137 for a much looked for and longed for copy of At Seaside Cottage two days earlier! That was a good price at £122 though for whoever did get it 8) .

How did you get the Word of Rare Books seller to give you a list of what they have Sixret? I can only see what appears in their 'other items' link :|

Not sure what 'list' Sixret meant - but you can have emails from WorldofRareBooks. Not sure how I opted for this - take a look on their eBay page.

No. Not from World of Rare Books. But from an independent seller.

Those two sentences were separated.

I bought Secret Island with dj from an independent seller's list. I was just lucky that there was Secret Island with dj being listed in the list.

And I have seen Spiggy Holes with dj listed in World of Rare Books store. I wanted to let Rob know since he haven't got Spiggy Holes with dj in his collection yet.

Hope this explain.

Thanks Sixret - yes - I've also seen Spiggy Holes with dust wrapper from WorldofRareBooks. I'll keep an eye open - but hopefully will see one cheaply if I wait a while. I almost bought a dust jacket version of Kilimooin last year for around £45 - but now I'm glad I waited and found one for just over £10! :-)

I will let you know if I see a Spiggy Holes with dj cheaper than £12.33, Rob.

Any price up to around £20 is okay. I checked out the £12.33 one, but the jacket is fairly tatty, so I'd prefer one with a better wrapper. :-)
