Perhaps the way to go would be to crushed by a large number of 'Mountain of Adventure' books - it would create another mountain. I only have 10 of these, though so some way to go.

I wonder if the fact that my most common purchase is 'Sea' followed by 'Mountain' is representative of the number of books in existence. It might well be true as 'Sea' is the fourth book and children might well have been hooked by the series as it went along. Certainly 'Mountain' had two reprints in the same year it was issued which suggests that there was a tremendous demand.

I wonder which of the books is most difficult to find? In my buying experience it would be either 'Circus' or 'River'.

29 stories - so that's my bedtime reading leading up to Christmas! :-D

hearts mad delight,

I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

A nice purchase Rob - these books give access to many stories that can be otherwise hard to track down!
Does it contain illustrations?

In all these new collections, each story has its own title page, which features an illustration going all around, like a wide border. Each story has an illustration on its title-page but the illustration isn't sadly connected to the story - just general 'Christmas Elves' type pictures in the style of the cover, in black and white. There are about six title page illustrations that repeat throughout the book.

So to answer your question...it does contain illustrations, but not in the conventional sense of the word!! :D

This week I bought 'Jinky's Joke and Other Stories', a lovely clean copy though without a dustjacket. It's undated so I'm not sure if it's a first edition. Nice Kathleen Gell illustrations with some in colour.

Just won two books on eBay - 'A Picnic Party With Enid Blyton' and 'Five have Plenty Of Fun' - both with dust wrappers, although they aren't pristine. It went higher than I'd have liked - £18.60 - but I was determined to get the Picnic Party book, as I currently only have it without a dust wrapper, and in fact have NEVER seen a copy with the dust wrapper - so I'm glad I got it, even though the wrapper needs a bit of mending.

The other book - Five Have Plenty of Fun - I already have - though I have a couple of loose pages in my copy, so I'm waiting to see whether its worth swapping the new one and selling mine...we'll see. ;-)

Very pleased I've got the Picnic party with wrapper - as it will go well on the shelf with my Story Party At Green Hedges book! :-)

£18.60 is a reasonable price to add a needed book to your collection especially as the dustjacket must be quite rare for you never to have even seen it before.

I saw those two as well Rob. I was going to bid on them but very unusually for me decided I couldn't go that high this time :P . I wondered if anybody here had got them, really pleased you have. Hope the wrapper mends ok as it looked like it needed a little TLC from the pictures :D .

I have really slowed any book buying this month as I must start my Christmas shopping, but I managed to get NC Storybook 5 for £5 and book 2 for 99p. Storybook 2 was a bit grubby to say the least, the yellow bit of the cover picture was murky grey and my white cloth was black when I'd finished with it! It has cleaned up nicely with a bit of elbow grease, I have to say restoring these lovely books is as satisfying and enjoyable as collecting and reading them. I suppose it's the book collector's equivalent of polishing a prized vintage car in between driving it 8) .

Thanks IceMaiden! :-D I should be slowing my book buying down as well, and was really hoping (by some miracle!) I could get the Picnic party and Five Have Plenty of Fun for the starting price of £4.99. Of course, it stayed at £4.99 until a couple of hours before the end of the auction. :-( I was determined to get the Picnic party book *didn't really mind about Five Have Plenty of Fun) - so I bid as much as £42 - hoping it wouldn't go that high!

Yes I noticed it stayed at £4.99 until the last hour or so, and like you hoped I'd get it for that price - really wishful thinking ebay rarely works like that! I'd have put the FF book back on though to try and recover a little of the cost as I already have it, I'm not a dealer but I spend so much on the books I feel justified in selling on duplicates or unneeded copies to help buy other books with :D .

Sympathies about the Secret Seven books IceMaiden, that is really frustrating!

I've never read any of the school books at all yet so I bought these two omnibus three books in one editions for about £2.75 inc delivery each.

It says they are both 'unabridged' so I'm hoping they haven't been altered too much besides the more recent illustrations by Jenny Chapple - fingers crossed.

Yes - I'm reselling the Famous Five book, as I have a slightly better copy (though mine isn't a first edition, as this one is) - and I'm also selling my copy of Picnic Party. I tend to buy books and upgrade my collection then sell my old copies. :-D

I remember I’ve seen a link to your Ebay store, Rob. You have listed one or two titles with dj in Enchanted Wood series. Are they spare copies? Do you have them with djs in your collection?
