Don't worry - the museum's figures of Jesus as an adult had him with what looked like gingery-blonde dreadlocks!! Here he is being baptised in the Jordan (which looks strangely more like a very narrow swimming pool):

And feeding the five thousand (whom the sculptor(s) made no attempt to portray!):

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I haven't read that one, Pete, as I have always been put off by the fact its partly 'The Christmas Book' - which I already have in its entirety. :-D

This year I'm reading one story a night of the latest Christmas Treats book -

Last year I read this one -

Both are highly recommended for good Christmas reading!

Can anyone remember the Find Outer titles that have snow in them? I'm particularly trying to remember which one it was where the snow fell very thickly and someone (Fatty I think) went out in it and did some trailing etc?

It's Goon who follows The Find Outers in Secret Room. Don't the Secret Seven follow people in the snow too?

The mystery of the secret room

Down to Milton House again

Next morning the Five Find-Outers and Buster set off to Milton House. The snow was very thick, and they left the marks of their footprints behind them.

Pips and Bets had to pass Mr. Goon's house to meet the others, and the policeman saw them. He wondered if they were doing something he ought to know about. He felt so certain that the children were on the track of some mystery, and old Clear-Orf couldn't bear the idea of their getting in first again. He decided to follow them.

He couldn't very well ride his bicycle in the thick snow, so he set out on foot, keeping them in sight, but trying not to be seen himself. However, as soon as Pip and Bets joined up with the others, Buster knew they were being followed.

He stopped and growled, looking back along the road. The children turned too, and caught sight of the familiar dark-blue uniform slipping into a gateway.

You're very welcome, Rob. :D
I particularly enjoyed Ern's scenes in the tree house watching the house where the painting was stolen.

Glancing at the MAIL over coffee at an attractive nearby store 8) this morning, I noticed an Enid Blyton 'Christmas' book featured in good reads for children, couldn't make out if its a new book coming out for the seasonal market or an old favourite getting another spin :?

Might be 'Christmas Treats'? Which is a collection of 29 Enid Blyton short stories about Christmas. :-D That's new this year.
