of course, you could take an Enid Blyton book printed in Welsh, Pete. :-D

That photo looks like my Welsh ancestors, lol!!

Books galore, cakes a-plenty, peaceful country walks and lilting Welsh accents - bliss! If I were enjoying a holiday like that and heard tales of "strange goings-on" at a nearby mansion I'd be half-inclined to ignore them and carry on reading!

A peaceful walk over the nearby stream to the old fashioned village shop that provides the Daily Express, home made Bara Brith, Sandwich Cakes and scones is all the exercise we need!
Pete, that sounds like the perfect, relaxing vacation to me. :!:
We always have to do lots of sight-seeing, because we know that 4 years from now we no longer can do overseas trips (while I'm dreaming of simply staying at a log cabin by a lake in the woods being lazy and doing nothing but reading books :)).

Of course we always try our best to 'blend in' when in the hallowed land of Rob's forbears...

lol - they could easily be my ancestors, Pete! :-D

Unfortunately I don't have any photos of my Welsh ancestors (not even one of my dad's dad, who died when I was 2) - as they are all kept by my uncle in the farm house where dad grew up. We really should have some, as we have loads of my mom's ancestors from Derbyshire, Kenilworth and Birmingham.

I do have a photo of my dad's birthplace in North Wales though, which some of you may have seen on facebook previously - Goppa Hall, near Henllan - Denbigh -

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Rob I know that area very well. We had a caravan in the 1970's & 1980's not too far away.
It was 45 miles from my house and my best friend and I sometimes cycled to it together in the summer holidays.

We launched our dinghy for an adventure (indicated) and we were going great until an underwater branch punctured our craft and left us soaked and without all our picnic goodies- we can laugh about it now -just!

Nice part of Wales and still lots of Welsh spoken when we were there..

That's great Pete! yes - Spent many holidays in and around that area, and also Taly-bont and Barmouth. It is quite a Welsh- speaking area - which is why my dad, at school there in the 1940's - was segregated at school - classes were split into 'English speaking' and 'Welsh speaking' - and as he mainly spoke English at home (his dad being 'first generation Welsh' ) - he wasn't allowed into a Welsh-speaking class, and wasn't even taught Welsh! :(

Interesting, Pete and Rob. I know St. Asaph, Trefnant and Denbigh but not the other places.

Ooh where abouts in mid Wales are you coming to Pete?

For books if I go anywhere I only take a story I have either a duplicate or a cheap copy, I would never take one from my main collection incase I lost it or forgot to bring it back!

Erm, you might wish to change that Pete, as it basically says 'we love being in Enid Blyton'
