I'm okay with the first eight letters and the last eight. It's the bit in the middle I struggle with.

Re: Adventure series Readathon
BTW John Pickup, I just checked the Burhou puffin cam and the website states that it won't be turned on before April. So I'll check it out on Friday. We had a thread about the puffin cam, hopefully I'll be able to find it again.
Daisy and Cathy, isn't time flying by very very fast?
To me it feels as if it was just a few months ago when we talked about the puffins activity on the web cam, but actually that was last summer.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Huffin and Puffin and the rest of the guys too!
I'm reading the Adventure series at the moment so it'll be lovely to see the birdies for real!

That's strange. I had the usual EBS notification in my inbox about a new post made for a threat I'm following, but there is no post by Wolfgang.

Yes, I moved the post to the "Valley of adventure Readathon"-thread which I thought was more suitable.

Re: Adventure series Readathon
I am just posting to say that I am currently reading Evelyn Waugh's Decline and Fall and have just come across avery comedic scene featuring a Welsh silver band which is liberally sprinkled with "Look yous" and "Whatevers". The book is set in North Wales in the fictional village of Llanabba. Whether or not it is true that Welsh people do, or ever did, use these terms it is clear that Blyton was not the only author to put them into the mouths of her Welsh characters.
"What a lot of trouble one avoids if one refuses to have anything to do with the common herd. To have no job, to devote ones life to literature, is the most wonderful thing in the world. - Cicero

Interesting!
As I've said before, I find the 'look you' 'whateffa' thing to be totally unrealistic! I wonder where the idea came from? All my relatives on my dad's side are from North Wales (Denbigh area) and I've never heard any of them using either of those expressions.
